Where does it say she got a custodial sentence?Dunners wrote: ↑Fri Mar 03, 2023 11:18 amI agree, and could have worded that better. I guess I’m struggling to appreciate how so much responsibility of the cyclist’s death can be apportioned to the pedestrian. Given the circumstance s and her own disabilities, a custodial sentence does seem harsh.spen666 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 03, 2023 11:09 amDunners wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 4:17 pm ...
I think the pedestrian's reactions are not the real issue here (although clearly the Judge disagrees). Regardless of her conduct, personality and vocabulary, she had right of way and I think her frustration and annoyance is understandable and legitimate.
....
her frustration may be understandable, but it is not legitimate to cause the death of someone because they have frustrated you

Meanwhile, a cyclist who was doing almost 50% above the speed limit and hit an elderly woman, killing her, has been told he didn’t break any laws

How he got away with that defies belief. If you’re riding that fast you have even more responsibility to ensure the safety of others. I guess he could afford a good brief.Currywurst and Chips wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 6:15 pm Meanwhile, a cyclist who was doing almost 50% above the speed limit and hit an elderly woman, killing her, has been told he didn’t break any laws
