Agreed. As much as the mentality at the club has to change with further astute signings of players on frees and dare I say fees being paid for talented younger players from L2 and even non league. We need to offer them longer deals that allow those players to mature at Orient before following the same principle as POSH of potentially selling them on in year Three of their contracts. The fans also have to buy into that, as much as I like Hector we sold him at the right time and it allowed us to buy Moncur who was very good for most of the promotion season and played a major part in our success that year. The club has to go all in if it's going that route but fans need to see the bigger picture and be patient.

We paid a small fee for O'Neil I believe but agreed to a hefty sell on if he goes.

Shorter contracts are insurance for the club as much as for the player, as we'll see this summer with Moncur and Piggott, it's hard to get under contract players off the books at this level should they flop.
No one is paying for Agyei this summer, he's barely played this season.
When you're dealing with older players or historic crocks yes but the likes of Galbraith and O'Neill young and on an upward curve they've been talking about 2+1 deal with the third year extension in our favour.
I rated Hector from the very first time I saw him play as a young player in a friendly against Harlow around 4 to 5 years ago approx. Many on here hounded him and could not see his potential ( Tuffers especially ) and were overjoyed when he went to ''The Posh'' and we replaced him with George Moncur. I think it was a great move for Hector and definitely aided his development and the good season we got out of Moncur helped get Os promoted, so view it as a win win for the Os. If Hector does get a big money move, then another cash bonus for the Os. Comments above mention Watford as a club interested in buying him, for me, I reckon he is better off continuing his learning curve by staying for a while yet at Peterborough,

Absolutely not, Peterborough only deal in 7 figures for their assets so that's the minimum ballpark we should entertain

This is exactly the point, when in League 2 we needed success (promotion) fast so got no time for having players making mistakes costing us precious points during their development. Short term thinking absolutely the right tactic that got us the title and League 1 status we all craved. We went from having a midfield that was a liability to one that was our strength, moving Kyprianou on was part of that process.
I get the impression now we're where the board wanted to be there's a change of focus and they'll look more at the development / profit / sustainability model as Nigel has openly admitted that Championship finances and losses scare him.
Have a soft spot for JK - for when he squared up to that fella who left us, went to Burnley in a fit of pique, and ended up at Bromley. Mind you, we go got some reasonable mullah for him. He became a real hate figure.
