Sorted out a postal vote which I completed 2 weeks ago and then forgot to send. If it comes down to one vote, it's all my fault.

Here in Wales the voting is almost solely for Police Commissioners. It will be interesting as Support for Labour is falling away. The 20 mph saga and Vaughan Gething's donations has thrown the spotlight on the Govt of Wales which has been Labour over the past 25 years. A year ago Starmer was calling on us all to look at the Labour Govt in Wales as a blueprint for a national Labour Govt. He's gone very quiet about that, as Labour's record in Govt in Wales has come to light. In a word - 'Shambolic'.

Expect some serious voting in Thurrock. Usually Tory controlled & they have mucked up big time. Accrued massive debts, gambling on dodgy "investments". People are up in arms. Council Tax gone sky high and services chopped. Especially bin collections. When you consider most vote Tory to pay less Council Tax, oh dear! A bit of a poisoned chalice if Labour take control. The die hard Tories on our local Facebook Group are giving it, " they are all as bad as each other", a favourite diatribe when the going gets tough.

This is one of the many problems Tories face - why do so few of their followers put posters of support in their homes?

Oh - another one: why do they hide the fact their candidates are representing the Conservative Party on their campaign literature?

It is not very good, is it?

I think people of all political persuasions are loathe to display posters these days because they fear
some nutter putting a brick or worse through their windows

A few years ago a house around my area had a poster which read " For the sake of Jo Cox ,vote Remain ". I thought that was below the belt . Using that poor woman's death to further their own political preferences . Also one bizarre one . After Brexit won the referendum some saddo put up an EU flag outside his house . He had a vine growing up the outside and he stuck it in that . His house looked like the EU embassy. However he let's his dog loose on the street to sh*t without cleaning it up afterwards

In my part of Essex the poll is only for the Police Fire and Crime Commissioner, although all the four candidates align to a political party. In my blissful naviety, I'd rather the post was truly independent.

I think the turnout will be a record low, which is a shame as in some countries people would give their right arm to be able to vote. We are fortunate to have democracy, even if the choices are - to put it mildly - sometimes just different shades of the some thing.
I've used a postal vote for most of my life as I travelled so much on business.

I thought the same. Why the f*** should local police fire and crime decision be made with a political angle?

Interesting that the Tories are winning the poll above. This is why Opinion Polls are misleading. Tory voters like to remain anonymous.

Good point. There is such a thing as too much democracy and asking for accountability from public servants wasting our tax dollars.

Interesting because since the Rochdale by election I've been think that George Galloway's Workers Party could do a fair bit of damage to Labour . Just because Labour are way out in front in opinion polls it's not a slam dunk that Labour will win the next general election .
