O's fans at Shrewsbury on 27th April
There was a good turnout & plenty of noise from the drum which can be heard on the highlights.
I had a really good day meeting up with old O's buddies inc Mr B & the game was enjoyable.
The one negative aspect was the group of our idiot fans who insist on singing the East London is wonderful song. It's embarrassing & offensive. What can we do about it?
There is the direct approach of confronting the miscreants but probably not a sensible idea as they might become aggressive. Alternatively, speaking to stewards which will probably achieve little or contacting the club.
One of my group was a woman & I just hoped that she didn't make out the words.
This song needs to be consigned to history.
Any thoughts?

A song sung by blokes who more than likely have never ever fondled a pair of tits or had even the slightest sniff of a bit of fanny.

Can you explain precisely what you mean by that comment?

Regrettably not. It lives on, sung usually once a match in order to demonstrate just how frightfully naughty and edgy the ladz are.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 5:11 pm I thought it was consigned by that Kerrang div about ten years ago?

I’m using a quote from a tv show to make the point you’re sad.
What next? You going to be offended people eat meat pies at the ground?

Personally don’t think it’s professional for Moncs to be doing that on a match dayBiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 5:44 pmI’m using a quote from a tv show to make the point you’re sad.

Not as embarrassing as the pr1ck who threw something at the female steward. Or the other pr1ck who followed it up with a ‘what you looking at, you fat c**t?’ when the stewards understandably tried to work out which pr1ck had thrown the object.
Classy.

Grassing is worse than throwing objects at female stewards and shouting ‘fat c un t’ at them. The Reverend wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 9:49 pmDid you grass?Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 7:53 pm Not as embarrassing as the pr1ck who threw something at the female steward. My simple & polte question to you is would you be happy for any of your female relatives inc children to sit at a game & listen to that?BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 5:44 pmI’m using a quote from a tv show to make the point you’re sad.

It amuses me that you're one of the boarders who has to be rude to others they disagree with. I wondered if you behaved like that in your life away from the board, as well.

Yes. I wasn’t offended by a girl screaming ‘you’re f*cking sexy, Josh Koroma’ for the whole game next to me a few years ago either. Would you police her language too?VeganO wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 8:29 amMy simple & polte question to you is would you be happy for any of your female relatives inc children to sit at a game & listen to that?BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 5:44 pmI’m using a quote from a tv show to make the point you’re sad.

Its laughable how offended you are by a song at a football match.

Once again, you're incapable of disagreeing with someone on this Forum in a reasonable way. Do you behave like this when you're speaking with someone face to face? Or do you reserve the rudeness for online?BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 12:58 pmYes. Not offended by it but anyone still singing that chant in 2024 is a massive pr1ck.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 12:58 pmYes. I am offended by the person throwing stuff at the female steward, however.

When you point out that something is offensive, and the perpetrators don't care, you'll never going to win a reasoned argument, I'd just let it go. Some people just see things from their own perspective and not others.VeganO wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 8:16 pmOnce again, you're incapable of disagreeing with someone on this Forum in a reasonable way. Unfortunately there are a lot of boors about; Bugsy manages to be boring as well. Judging by his nom de guerre, he is pretty youthful ( well he sounds like a petulant teenager, anyway )

I wouldn’t sing it and I can see why someone would find it offensive in 2024 but you’ve used a backhanded misogynistic argument to support your argument.Chelmsford Swimmer wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 9:47 pmWhen you point out that something is offensive, and the perpetrators don't care, you'll never going to win a reasoned argument, I'd just let it go. If your day out is really affected by someone saying ‘tits, fanny and Orient’ then I suggest you go to therapy.
