Released Players

Post by RedDwarf 1881 »

I was just wondering when the club will release the list of players to be let go . Even though still under contract I wouldn't be surprised if Moncur and Pigott are on that list .
Also I was wondering if our next home kit will incorporate an old kit design just like our last two home kits . I would imagine our new kit design has already been chosen .

Just as important is when the pre-season friendlies are arranged choose teams that have a decent playing surface and not the usual fifth tier teams with poor pitches. Some of our players were injured in pre-season playing on these pitches.

That's a good point .Playing on Colchester's bone hard pitch proved to be expensive for us causing injuries .

I don`t think the club can release players who are under contract (Moncur/Pigott), but they could be placed on the transfer list.

Maybe that will happen then or maybe they are released by mutual consent

I asked that question to RW on the Orient Hour, he said that he's pretty sure they've got it right this year though hard to find good pitches for pre-season games

The released and retained list will be out this week, usually there are individual meetings with players and those out of contract will either have already had an offer of a new one, offered one or told they are not being retained. Players in contract are likely to be given BMI and weight targets for when they return to training in late June.

This thread happens every year and gets earlier and earlier.

At least give the club a week to finalise things and release information. It seems childish asking about this a mere day or two following the last game.

Don’t think anything will happen until the manager situation is sorted. That is the one and only thing that matters right now.

Pitch is being relaid over summer I saw mentioned so must limit when they can use it once the commercial pitch hires are done.

I do agree though, best way to be in control of pre-season games is have it at our ground. Frankly couldn't care less about supporting other part-time clubs with their attendances for the games, better to gain an extra 1% on our own preparations even if the gains are that small.

It's usually pretty early to let them get fixed up elsewhere, so probably this week. But how quickly it get's on the official website depends on the IT guys, who (IMO) can be a bit slow compared to updates on other websites covering all sorts of subjects.

Retained lists are here though not many yet. Gavin Massey released by Newport. https://therealefl.co.uk/2024/04/29/efl ... t-2023-24/
11 released by Shrewsbury. Shaq Coulthirst has been released by Ebbsfleet, one of eight. Josh Wright and Ouss Cissé remain in talks. Nigel Atangana is one of 12 players released by Eastleigh. Oldham have released 14 players and seven will leave Aldershot.

I noticed the ground inside the South stand goal looked a bit threadbare . Maybe it's just a repair job and not the whole pitch .

I agree. This is the same standard as the premier league.

5g pitches are relayed at least once & sometimes twice. Something to do with artificial fibres bonding stronger.

They probably shouldn't be boozing whilst playing football, Ron.

Disappointed Rob Hunt has been released. Very decent pro who never let us down. I wish him well.
