I'm sure it would be higher if we had a bigger ground. No doubt a number of away teams would bring a lot more support for a start.

This year's match figures are for tickets sold so can't be compared with the metric for earlier seasons which related to attendance.

Yep, metric has changed but still impressive! If we keep our upward momentum and when all the new Leyton homes are built we will be missing out on alot of revenue. BH saved the O's but also ensured we would always be constrained.

Unfortunately since Barry Hearn made changes to the ground with flats in every corner of the ground and new safety rules on standing we will never equal the record crowd attendance of 38,219 against Spurs in 1929.

Yes, but that wasn't Brisbane road, which was 34,000 v West H.

The whole thing is meaningless since they started fiddling the figures.
Sorry, just a bit annoyed about todays game.

Interesting. Do you know when they started to do that?Long slender neck wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2024 7:17 pmThe whole thing is meaningless since they started fiddling the figures.

Surely everyone knows by now that since Devlin became CEO these are ticket-sold figures not attendance figures.
For the stadium announcer to state these on a weekly basis as the "attendance" isn't even disingenuous, it is a lie.

Wonder how impressed they are when they discover they've been somewhat mislead about the number who will actually see the advertising/marketing.

Always seem to play badly when we accrue a bigger crowd…

Whilst we’re on the topic of attendances, the amount of people who come to home games and watch about 20 minutes of football seems to be worse than ever recently.
Turn up 10 mins after kick off, forcing everyone to get up whilst they spend 5 mins fumbling around looking for their seats. Leave 10 mins before halftime to get more beers in.
Show up 15 mins into the second half having not realised the game had even started again. And when they are in their seats spend most of the time nattering on about nonsense or playing with their phones.
I honestly don’t get it. Why not just stay in the pub if you’re not actually into watching the game you’ve paid to come and see?

Well, TBF we have got a much bigger fanbase than we’ve had for many years…………It is a bit misleading, I agree but I don’t think we’re alone in ‘massaging’ the figures………Arsenal have been doing it for longer, I believe.o-no wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 9:29 amWonder how impressed they are when they discover they've been somewhat mislead about the number who will actually see the advertising/marketing.

Agreed. It happens a lot in the East Stand. I’m nowhere near my vintage years but it does seem to be younger people. Many are up and down every 5 minutes or so. A large number are also checking scores of other matches (especially the Premier League). Where I sit people over 40 generally watch the match without checking phones yet those younger are repeatedly on Sky Sports (possibly seeing who the club they actually support are doing). The Reverend wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 2:07 pm Whilst we’re on the topic of attendances, the amount of people who come to home games and watch about 20 minutes of football seems to be worse than ever recently.

I’m all for the more the merrier but I won’t lie and say it was a more enjoyable experience when I didn’t have to move repeatedly from my seat and there wasn’t a queue for the bogs.
People coming in late and trying to find their seats is very annoying and all the standing up sees people missing some of the action.
