Re: London Mayor Election
That is untrue. Plans were clear as far back as 2017.

(Edit - I see it was Susan Hall who has accused him of lying, which seems to be based on it not being in the 2021 manifesto that the expansion to all of greater london would go on to include cars. This obviously isn't the same as saying he wouldn't do it.)

Re: London Mayor Election
I heard France especially Paris is placing heavy restrictions on vehicular traffic and trying to get everyone on bikes. The thing is if a bike it is worth more that a tenner it gets stolen and a lock of any worth is probably over £100. Any recommendations for a decent lock please?ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 12:31 pmI didnt see/hear him say the goalposts wouldnt be moved regarding ULEZ, if he did, thats very welcome, although he lied a few years ago, just after he increased the area for ULEZ to the North & South Circular roads. He was asked if he would increase the area again to cover all of London, and he said he wouldnt, but he lied, so im not sure I trust him nowLong slender neck wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 10:08 amComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 9:55 am If Khan wins, and I think he will, he will change the ULEZ rules within 18 months. At the moment , to be exempt, cars have to be in the Euro 4 or above rating, but he will change this to Euro 5 or even Euro 6.
If he changes it to Euro 5, all cars registered in 2007, 08, 09 &10, will in effect have to be scrapped.
My own car falls into that range. I will have to scrap a really good car, with less than 70,000 miles on the clock, and spend around £4,000 to replace it.........money i dont have
I really am in two minds on who to vote for
Didnt he say this week that the goalposts wont be moved while he is mayor?
Who else are you considering voting for?
As for who else i may vote for......I dont know who's standing atm. There may be an independent candidate i like, or one of the smaller parties.
I shall keep you posted

Looks like Susan Hall wants to scrap free school meals https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/newslond ... r-BB1lLnNW

A lot like Khan than . I’ve been told at work that if Khan wins the election he will bring in road pricing at £2 per mile and it won’t matter what vehicle you’re driving. Apparently it’s all over social media. Like I said, it’s what I was told so don’t go shooting the messenger.Long slender neck wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 1:00 pm Looks like Susan Hall wants to scrap free school meals https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/newslond ... r-BB1lLnNW

How would that even work technologically?
Anything 'all over social media' is an immediate red flag!
Its a conspiracy theory, just like '15 minute neighbourhoods' and Susan Hall couldnt stop repeating the phrase 'pay per mile' in that debate even when she was told its rubbish.

He lies. Previously said ULEZ expansion wouldn't happen and here we areLong slender neck wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 2:20 pm

Have you noticed they're putting ULEZ cameras up in cul de sacs and suchlike? Basically trying to map every part of London so you'd be time and distance measured along any journey.Long slender neck wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 2:20 pm

It's in the TfL planning strategy document and I think there are tender documents as well for "Project Detroit" which is being actively worked on at present. When questioned about it Khan refuses to answer.

Detroit is explained in my above link. Its just an IT system to replace existing and hardly Skynet.

Is quite astonishing that she has got this far unless she is designated as the absolute fall guy.Long slender neck wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 1:00 pm Looks like Susan Hall wants to scrap free school meals https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/newslond ... r-BB1lLnNW

Quite. I'm not particularly a Khan fan but the accusations of "arrogance" mainly seem to equate to "he's implemented a policy/policies I don't like". Interested to see if anyone can actually come up with an example of how he's acted arrogantly.

“What I don’t like about Khan is his arrogance. I long for the days when the holder of that office was unencumbered by such character flaws, such as when Boris Johnson was Mayor”

Re: London Mayor Election
They won’t. The stuff they don’t like is a direct result of the government. Theresa May scrapped the TfL grant, meaning other revenue streams were necessary. The recent post-covid funding deals were only given on the basis of him going back on promises.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 8:39 am Quite. Re: London Mayor Election
Obviously not all, but would guess that rather a lot of things people don't like about Labour councils or mayors actually stem from prior policies and decisions made by the Tory government.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 8:51 amThey won’t. Re: London Mayor Election
I can only guess that the Tories are deploying Susan Hall as a means to gauge voter reaction to some of her comments in non-London regions around the rest of the country. Possibly as a way of formulating their General Election strategy and campaign.

Re: London Mayor Election
I expect they're following their uxbridge anti ulez strategy. Outer borough voters will go for it.
