I know some were through injury but doing all your subs by 66 mins seems naiveMistadobalina wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 9:43 pm F*cking knew it. Wouldn't be surprised if we lose. Abysmal second half. Wellens deserves some of the blame for a baffling number of unprompted subs.

They just kept coming down our right side, had no answer once Cooper went offMistadobalina wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 9:39 pm That was coming. We've handled playing with ten men horribly, getting roasted wide and can't keep the ball. We're gonna blow this.

Re: Exiles thread - Exeter (H)
All credit to Exeter, one way traffic even before we went down to 10 men. Disappointing and probably means we're now just trying to stay in 10th place.

Sotoriou Beckles Cooper injured, Hunt & Sanders getting roasted & Pigott for being Pigott. Hardly unprompted.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 9:43 pm F*cking knew it. 3 tactical subs that early when two players had already come off injured obviously a massive and unnecessary risk. That's not a hindsight thing, thought it was odd at the time.

Regardless of whether he should have made so many subs early or not, sitting so deep with nobody even close to the opposition half and lumping the ball back to them to reload and go again for 10+ minutes like some training drill is just asking for trouble.
That Exeter equaliser is up there with one of the most inevitable goals I’ve ever witnessed.

Excellent opportunity to experiment against Derby on Saturday with only one centre back available!gshaw wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 10:12 pmJust about experimenting at this stage in the seasonMistadobalina wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 10:03 pm 3 tactical subs that early when two players had already come off injured obviously a massive and unnecessary risk. The way Exeter pressed us, what else could they do. Try & pass it Exeter just took it off us.The Reverend wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 10:10 pm Regardless of whether he should have made so many subs early or not, sitting so deep with nobody even close to the opposition half and lumping the ball back to them to reload and go again for 10+ minutes like some training drill is just asking for trouble.

Attack vs Defence for the last 20 minutes, rarely seen anything like it. Whenever we won the ball back we just hoofed it downfield with noone chasing and zero attempt to even hold on to it, waiting for it to come straight back. Weird.

Re: Exiles thread - Exeter (H)
Sweeney and Obeiro both staking claims for a place in our 24/25 squad. Impressed with both - Sweeney was up against a right handful and managed him well.
Can’t fault the tactics once we went down to 10 - with Moncur as one of the 10, you can’t leave one up top. But doing all the subs so early was a mistake.
I thought Exeter were a decent side, played nice stuff but just had no cutting edge. 11 v 11 and they wouldn’t have scored. You can see why they’ve also fallen just short of the play offs.

Re: Exiles thread - Exeter (H)
When Pigott was on the pitch it was a bit like 10 v 11 even then.
RW obviously made a few errors with the subs but probably thought by just defending our box we might hang on and still get a win. Anyway, it was all a bit meaningless but Exeter were a decent side who moved the ball around well and maybe deserved a point .
Obeiro again looked decent while Sweeney won’t come across much better than the Chelsea loanee he was marking.

Re: Exiles thread - Exeter (H)
Pigott - I don’t think I’ve even seen anyone with such a knack for being in the right place at the wrong time. Poor sod didn’t have the ball drop for him once all evening, I don’t think he touched the ball more than a dozen times all night.
A very odd game overall. Our first goal was a fluke, the second came from an Exeter mistake. They didn't threaten at all until Cooper went off, and the we were all over the bloody shop. Disappointing overall but it doesn’t matter.
Also, Simpson. Was impressed with him. We’ll do well to keep him for next season assuming Happe moves on.

For 66mins with Piggot on the pitch we were playing with 10 men, surely he won’t be an Orient player next season.Cheshunto wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 11:23 pm When Pigott was on the pitch it was a bit like 10 v 11 even then.

By far the worst No.9 I have ever seen in an Orient shirt.

He’s had more than enough chances . It’s obviously not going to work for him at Orient. Best for both Pigott and the club that he moves on to start afresh somewhere else.Stan1972 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2024 12:26 amFor 66mins with Piggot on the pitch we were playing with 10 men, surely he won’t be an Orient player next season.Cheshunto wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 11:23 pm When Pigott was on the pitch it was a bit like 10 v 11 even then.

Re: Exiles thread - Exeter (H)
I'd give that dubious honour to Scowcroft. Pigott has a few goals to his name and that one he scored on the turn was decent, unlike the former who achieved diddly squat at the time.Stan1972 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2024 12:26 amFor 66mins with Piggot on the pitch we were playing with 10 men, surely he won’t be an Orient player next season.Cheshunto wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 11:23 pm When Pigott was on the pitch it was a bit like 10 v 11 even then.

Pigott would go on par with Michael Symes for me, that's not a good thing either
