Outfield player in goal vs goalie up front
Interesting article in the match day programme today recalling occasions when outfield players have had to go between the sticks for the Os. Got me thinking, what is more exciting:
1. Outfield player having to go in goal
2. Goalie going up a late corner
An outfield player in goal is certainly a rarer event but the carnage a goalie can cause in the mixer is always thoroughly entertaining.

Honestly can't remember us ever sending a keeper up. No real idea why, there's been plenty of occasions when we've needed a goal in important games.

I’m fairly certain Sol has done it at least once this season. Possibly in that FA cup game against Chesterfield.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2024 6:14 pm Honestly can't remember us ever sending a keeper up. I also recall mad dog McGhee going in goal at some point?
(And used to go up top too, as it happens).

Re: Outfield player in goal vs goalie up front
Putting an outfield player in goal was something that used to happen more often in the past before many subs were available to come on to replace players for whatever reason.
