I genuinely do not recall that. I do recall there being a lot of (misplaced) optimism in the media before the offensive got started, which you may be conflating with. But there were also plenty of people warning that, once on the offensive, Ukraine would experience the same numerical deficiency that Russia had initially at the start of the invasion (you need a minimum of 3 attacking troops for every 1 defender).
Plus, the Russian defensive positions are seriously tough.

I recall the misplaced optimism. I'm not conflating. The propaganda continued after engagement with the forces of evil.
