How far to the right (not far-right) are Reform?

Apparently not far enough to the right to be referred to as far-right.

Re: How far to the right (not far-right) are Reform?
Reform are far-libertarian right who tailor their messaging to appeal to the cultural right to threaten to attract just enough voters across just enough marginal constituencies to be a concern to a splintering Tory party.
Corbyn is a soft socially democratic lefty who appeals to the loony left, cranks, tankies, and other ragtag, yoghurt-knitting, purple-haired, perma-protest misfits. But, as these are generally concentrated in Labour safe seats, nobody really gives a f*ck about them.

One of their more unusual policies is to nationalise 50% of utilities and have the other half owned by British Pension funds for British pensioners. Weird.

As Reform are owned by a limited liability company controlled by Nigel Adolf Farage it wouldn't be Tice suing the BBC.

Re: How far to the right (not far-right) are Reform?
From what I can gather, the "real" far right consider Reform to be a fraud set up by boomer grifters and establishment shills, just to get their votes but not have any intention of ever implementing (on which, I agree).
They cite their 1 in/1 out immigration policy as too lenient, and have never forgiven them for kicking out Steve Laws, who is a full card-carrying member of the real far right.

I'm expecting Tice will expel her without delay but once he starts that where will it end. By the time he's finished there will be no crackpots left.

Is Reform the party where you have to pay to be a candidate, or am I getting that confused with something else?

In an ageing society, the over 50s make up a huge proportion of the electorate and are the most important cohort to appeal to if you want to either win or worry one of the main parties.

Re: How far to the right (not far-right) are Reform?
As brexit proved.
The only people that should worry about the Reform party are the Tories as it threatens to split their vote in marginals - on top of the fact that they are behind in the polls. If Labour cannot smash it at the polls this time then they need to give up.

As do both Labour & Conservative. Power doesn't arrive unless you get old racists to vote for you.

Be good when they're all dead. Not convinced by your assumption that power arrives by voting.

Be careful what you wish for. The oldies may be racists, but the younger cohort can be more open to autocratic/theocratic/fascist/extremist etc attitudes.

Not true, we should all worry.LittleMate wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 1:14 pmAs brexit proved.

Reform don’t have to win seats and power to have an influence. Their raison d’etre is to drag the tories to the right.
For Reform types, that’s foreign (and not the good German foreign) for purpose.

Re: How far to the right (not far-right) are Reform?
I'm confused. Isn't it Labour's job to push the Tories further right as they continue to extol the virtues and many benefits of Thatcherism?Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 2:02 pmNot true, we should all worry.LittleMate wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 1:14 pmAs brexit proved.
