Re: Excellent defender available
You said “allegations of abuse with a former girlfriend”
It’s weird that the example you’ve given to support that claim is “so you think mocking autism is banter?”

Re: Excellent defender available
Where exactly does he “mock” autism in those messages? He says that he told his GF that the woman he slept with had autism and suggested that she was gullible for believing him. I’m not really sure how that constitutes “mocking” autism. It’s distasteful, as are all the messages, but it doesn’t directly insult anyone for having autism.Yanzi Gravy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 10:48 amMocking autism, what would you call that? Banter? The Reverend wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 10:39 amI don’t see anything in there about “abuse”. That’s quite a serious allegation for you to be throwing around.Yanzi Gravy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 10:06 am
Cannot see why not as there is a revered player in the Team now who had allegations of abuse with a former girlfriend and a coaching staff member who had an affair with another players wife.
You have intentionally used the somewhat ambiguous term “abuse”.
And to be clear, I don’t condone those messages from Theo. Very tasteless and poor behaviour. However, cheating on your GF and being crass about it is nowhere near the same thing as racially abusing a teammate.
Re: Excellent defender available
Saying “allegations of abuse with a former girlfriend” suggests he was abusing the girlfriend. You know this

IMHO Theo shouldn't be dug out over some stupid teenage sh*t he said eight years ago in a private message to a girl he was in the process of dumping.

You cannot turn on acceptability like a tap to suit. I must admit , I was quite surprised and saddened when I discovered it whilst researching the background of players in the team. There was some series on TV this week about prominent cases involving controlling behaviour including some on well known police cases , there are various incidents and tactics of domestic abuse. Also only this week there is mention about safeguards being in place to vet public servants more effectively. I doubt if he tried to join the police or other similar institutions these days he would be admitted as vetting would pick these reports up in theory.

He couldn't join the Met because he once told an ex he cheated on her? We don't know anything more about this incident other than what is written in that article, which is about some dodgy, not particularly pleasant, texts. You should be very careful going on to draw the links you've done above.

So we really are going down the “sending crass Snapchat messages about cheating is the same as racially abusing a teammate in front of their colleagues” route are we?Yanzi Gravy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 12:48 pmYou cannot turn on acceptability like a tap to suit. Well everyone will have a different take on it really and what is or not acceptable. I strongly objected when a player who was involved in intimidation of a witness in a murder trial where the victim was a teenage girl, was welcome back to the club after being jailed. I was really offended by that and considered severing my ties with club.

What’s that got to do with our latest signing being a racist?Yanzi Gravy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 2:44 pmThe Reverend wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 1:07 pmSo we really are going down the “sending crass Snapchat messages about cheating is the same as racially abusing a teammate in front of their colleagues” route are we?Yanzi Gravy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 12:48 pm

Probably nothing to do with but highlights the issues that can arise with signings and the ‘duty of care’ that management have to consider in these times as some signings may have skeletons in the cupboard or a background which will not fit in with the team. Not an easy task for the management. The Reverend wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 5:04 pmWhat’s that got to do with our latest signing being a racist?Yanzi Gravy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 2:44 pmThe Reverend wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 1:07 pm
