Ratings v Bristol Rovers
Brynn - 6. Literally nothing to do again. Quick distribution but not always accurate.
Galbraith - 6. Left winger was a handful, understandably struggled defensively. Decent in possession as ever.
James - 6. Standard.
Beckles 6. Up against a proper lump, did ok.
Cooper 6. Same as becks. Not sure what he did to get himself booked and their bloke sent off.
Brown 6. Good to have him back.
El Miz 7. First one of several players that looked tired. Still a class above anyone else on the pitch. His ball retention and recoveries are just ridiculous.
Moncs 5. Looked tired.
O’Neil - 6. Tired.
Forde 6 Tired.
Ruel 6 Tired. Not involved when moved out wide left.
Subs
Edwards 4. He’s just not at this level. Looks like a little boy lost. Not sure how many minutes he’s had but he’s not looked anywhere near scoring. Think he had a rebound shot that he fluffed, his first ‘chance’ at all.
Hunt 6. Typical Hunt.
Sanders 7 MOTM. Great energy. Will start next game.
Dan Adjei II - 6. I know he’s only 18 but he’s the one I’d persevere with.
The ref - where do you even begin? Awful showing.
Rovers - horrible team. Big horrible lumps at the back, fat horrible lump up top, no midfield, one decent winger who caused us trouble first half. Good practice for the Stevenage game coming up.

Hopefully.
Forgot to mention their sub centre half, deliberately smashing balls at kids in the North Stand. What an absolute weapon.

For me every player is a 5 not there fault there all knakered. Brown for me was the best O’s player but would only give him a 6. Think the board will be secretly pleased?but if there is a blame it’s got to be the people responsible for the January window imo but it was a long shot. The good news is that we have enough points on the board and are safe. Still there are plenty of questions to be asked as to what will happen next season. Unfortunately I think the playoffs are now out of reach as most suspected and the rest of the season will just limp to an end.

Yup nailed it with this, exactly my thoughts too. Richie has done miracles to get us in with a shout but we'll likely come up a bit short due to deficiencies upfront.Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 9:16 am For me every player is a 5 not there fault there all knakered. We know we need to sign a #1 in summer as all signs point at Brynn not coming back so that and 2 strikers has to be sorted as priority. Richie's suggested changes to the process need to be adhered to as it failed him in January and that can't be repeated.

Re: Ratings v Bristol Rovers
What’s the story with that fat geezer they had up front? I looked him up and he was actually a very good Championship level striker between 2013-2016, banging in between 15 & 20 goals a season, then suddenly he just dropped off.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 12:38 am Brynn - 6. I’m convinced he didn’t actually touch the ball yesterday for their goal. It went straight in don’t it?

Yes, Sanders quite a stand out when he came on. Covered a lot of ground too.

Re: Ratings v Bristol Rovers
A proper handful. Occupied both Beckles and Cooper physically which is no mean feat and was surprisingly rapid for a lump. As good as I’ve seen at this level for a direct team. The Reverend wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 9:54 am

Must be a case for Sanders to be starting games, he looked decent when he came on.Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 11:15 am Yes, Sanders quite a stand out when he came on. Covered a lot of ground too.
I would also like to see Galbraith start in one of the attacking midfield roles as I think he’s a bit wasted at RB

Re: Ratings v Bristol Rovers
Sanders just needs to get fit and stay fit for a period of time.
I like Galbraith at full back. With him and James, we have 8 players who are all very, very comfortable on the ball.

Not going to happen with Sanders, just look at his fitness record before he joined us.

Re: Ratings v Bristol Rovers
Yes we dominated but only made one clear cut chance. We could have played all day and still not scored. Putting your chances away and we made very little. 6 for brown 5 the rest.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 1:40 pmCan’t give out 5s when we dominated play like that.Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 9:16 am For me every player is a 5 not there fault there all knakered.

Rovers didn’t even make 1 clear cut chance - are you giving their players 4s?

Re: Ratings v Bristol Rovers
Ruel was clearly leggy. And clearly struggling against their pair of 6 foot 5 thugs with no protection from the ref.
But he still could have had a couple of goals in the first half - the chance from the quick throw earned through pressing and being alert, and the near post header from the corner.
Edwards just isn't L1 standard (he may well be one day, although I have my doubts, but he definitely isn't right now). Bringing him in was a massive error.

Re: Ratings v Bristol Rovers
It was the time to make three or four changes - I thought that before the game, lots of players being overworked and it was obvious tiredness would kick-in. I still don't understand the logic of Edwards in front of Pegram or even Koussi-Smith better to get OUR youngsters some game time than somebody else's. Edwards isn't ready for League One football not had any impact in games so far.

It was always going to end this way - just be thankful no more injuries were picked up by the likes of Ford and Ruel.Top of the JES wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2024 11:01 am It was the time to make three or four changes - I thought that before the game, lots of players being overworked and it was obvious tiredness would kick-in. They obviously think Edwards and Dan Agyei the Second are ahead of Pegrum and Koussa-Smith.
I've seen Koussi Smith play this season, Edwards is streets ahead of him.
