Campaign For TheyO
Hi all, long time lurker.
Rejoined specifically to kick this lil campaign off.
Since the arrival of our mascot Cleo, I’ve been think that it would be nice for kids in the ground to understand that there are more folk in this world than just Mr and Mrs. I was looking to see if there would be some or significant support amongst Os fans for a third mascot, who would represent nonbinary folk. I think an obvious name for this mascot could be TheyO Wxvern, but open to suggestions there.
Ultimately I’m keen for this to be a word of mouth campaign, but would also be nice, if we gain momentum, that support is offered by the OrientEar or Panda.
I’ll keep it short for now, as just looking for initial reaction and warmly accept respectful feedback on this.
Best, and thanks for reading. Up to O's, let's hope for a win against Bristol today!

Only room for 2 Wyverns on the club’s crest and I’m reliably informed they are brother and sister.

Sounds good in principle. Maybe the club could introduce medical blockers to stop the eyelashes forming on the Wxvern

Re: Campaign For TheyO
Yes, think I agree here. It’s the addition of Cleo that sort of necessitates a TheyO.

Archibald is non-binary? I don't think he's confirmed this so you should be careful about outing him prematurely.

At the risk of appearing stupid.....is this thread a wind up, a parody?

Not sure if it was meant tongue in cheek but it’s actually a really good idea. And don’t want to be cynical but would be a really good marketing move, the first club with a LGBQT+ mascot.

Can’t believe you’ve arbitrarily imposed heteronormative values onto existing mascots, none of whom have genitals and as such are all under the LGBTQ+ umbrella as asexualsHoover Attack wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 11:46 pm Not sure if it was meant tongue in cheek but it’s actually a really good idea. Re: Campaign For TheyO
Why would it be nice for kids. We must have more important topics to discuss. Shall we spend the investment we are putting aside for upgrades to the ground for non binary WCs too . Should we not just have a child mascot. I think that may engage the kids more.TheyO wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 11:00 am Hi all, long time lurker.

They should have stuck with just Theo, i never thought of Theo as malen but now we have Cleo with eyelashes and I think a hairband? Is this equality?

Re: Campaign For TheyO
I know. Sometimes it’s difficult not to. I cant accept that less than 1% of the population craves 100% of our attention. I am too old for all the nonsense
Re: Campaign For TheyO
Yes this is what I found strange myself. Gender not really important or relevant in mascots, strangely enough. But the moment you add a trad female presenting wyvern it’s clear that Theo is considered the primary gender of two sexes. Thanks everyone else for feedback. Will get back to some of you by DM if that’s ok.

Also. Think it’s a given that more than one thing can be important at one time?

The club did this when they created Cleo and her eyelashes/hairbow/rubbish goalkeeping.CEB wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 9:11 amCan’t believe you’ve arbitrarily imposed heteronormative values onto existing mascots, none of whom have genitals and as such are all under the LGBTQ+ umbrella as asexualsHoover Attack wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 11:46 pm Not sure if it was meant tongue in cheek but it’s actually a really good idea.
