Dydd Gwŷl Dewi Sant hapus !
A pleasant St David's Day to all our Welsh correspondents.
Do readers think that every constituent country of the UK, should make their National Day, a Public Holiday?

Re: Bora Da!
Happy Welsh day to our welsh friends.
Can we give them Simpson back as a Dave's day present?

Dydd Gŵyl Dewi hapus blwyddyn yma!
St David sounds a bit of a miserable local: a teetotaling veggie who insisted his monks lived an ascetic life. Nice little cathedral, though.
Oh well, the daffs are out already and we’ve still got some overwintered leeks in the veg beds, so we’re all sorted. Anyone fancy a welshcake?

I don't speak Welsh at all but I do know that 'Bora' should read 'Bore' and means 'morning'- pronounced same way as 'Bora'. In Newport we have a chapel where the morning service in Welsh is advertised outside as 'Bore 10.30 am' Says a lot really! All my children went to school in Wales and all of them found the St David's Day observances very 'spiritual' and cultural, celebrating a Wales that doesn't exist anymore - bit of a 'Bore' really.
For us, March 1st is my younger son's birthday - 40 today. He was born in W London, just making it into March 1st so avoiding Feb 29th. The midwife was Welsh!
Anyway, happy St David's Day to all our Welsh friends, and any Welsh Orient supporters on the Boards.
