I agree, good to see differences of opinion discussed in a civil way. Interesting that some people are not sure if Theo will return or if his injury will affect his performance if he does, but I for one hope he makes a full recovery ?Wally Banter wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 6:39 pmGiven people are actually discussing the topic in a reasonable way, I retract my criticism. The Reverend wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 5:21 pmDoesn’t this apply to the entire concept of a message board, not just this thread?Wally Banter wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 3:13 pm Not sure what the aim of this thread is. Re: Archibald v O'Neil
Theo has been one of the first names on the team sheet for the last 3 seasons, and his injury is terrible news for everyone at the club. Theo has never been a prolific goalscorer and indeed neither has Ollie with 1 goal in 19 appearances for Derry City before joining the Os.. O'Neil has only played 8 games for the club whereas Archibald has played more than 100. Whilst I have no doubt O'Neil is performing well and has the potential to be an excellent player, I find this thread crass and disrespectful to a player who has just suffered a very serious injury.

Do you feel the same way about Pigott, just a question no offence intended, (not trying to be pedantic or stupid).PKM wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 5:28 pmIt does, but fully agree with this commentThe Reverend wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 5:21 pmDoesn’t this apply to the entire concept of a message board, not just this thread?Wally Banter wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 3:13 pm Not sure what the aim of this thread is. ‘The original post in this thread shows a lack of class IMHO - Theo has 9 tough months ahead of him rather than write him off I think the least we can do is be supportive. I expect him back in the autumn and challenging for a starting place.’
We’re talking about a blokes living here, ffs, the thread is out of order.
A lack of class indeed.

Re: Archibald v O'Neil
Last time I checked Pigott hadn’t sustained a very serious injury that could keep him out for 9 months. In addition, Theo is out of contract in a few months, which must be of concern to Theo.B.whitehouse+10more wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 7:17 amDo you feel the same way about Pigott, just a question no offence intended, (not trying to be pedantic or stupid).PKM wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 5:28 pmIt does, but fully agree with this commentThe Reverend wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 5:21 pm

Pigott has another 12 months.
Therefore seems an irrelevant and pointless question to me which indicates a lack of grasp of what we are talking about.
Namely comparing and in some cases writing off a player who has only just been seriously injured, who has been an excellent player for us over several years and comparing him to a player who , whilst he has made a great start for us, has only played 7 or so times.
Not really that hard to understand, is it?

Same basic points apply, Pigott ain’t sustained a serious injury that could prevent him from earning a living and is , in any case, under contract for another 15 months.Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 8:46 amMaybe I read it wrong, but I think he was referring to your line: 'we're talking about a blokes living here ffs" ?PKM wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 8:31 amLast time I checked Pigott hadn’t sustained a very serious injury that could keep him out for 9 months. Re: Archibald v O'Neil
IMO...Autumn is a bit too early, more like around Christmas time onwards, perhaps end of next season. I really like Theo and the 100% effort he put into the game, wish him all the very best with his knee operation and the rehabilitation that follows.PKM wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 5:28 pmIt does, but fully agree with this commentThe Reverend wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 5:21 pmDoesn’t this apply to the entire concept of a message board, not just this thread?Wally Banter wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 3:13 pm Not sure what the aim of this thread is. It obviously is, as you are struggling to understand what we are saying to you, never mind we have both said our bit let’s end it there.PKM wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 9:01 amSame basic points apply, Pigott ain’t sustained a serious injury that could prevent him from earning a living and is , in any case, under contract for another 15 months.Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 8:46 amMaybe I read it wrong, but I think he was referring to your line: 'we're talking about a blokes living here ffs" ?PKM wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 8:31 am

Re: Archibald v O'Neil
It's too early to judge O'Neil but Theo's ceiling is this level whereas O'Neil's could be a lot higher
