Ed Turns
Reading in the Daily Mail today there is an article saying that the player to watch in the EFL is Ed Turns now playing on loan at Crewe. He was obviously called back by Brighton because he was not a regular in the Orient side . Unlucky for us he is a left sided C/H and behind Happe in selection. According to article he is well regarded by Brighton.

Re: Ed Turns
You don’t have to play a left footer CB on the left and a right footed CB on the right. Most CB pairings will both be right footed.
He was always behind Beckles, Happe and Cooper. Nice footballer as you’d expect from a Premier league cast off, just not big or physical enough to play higher.
Good luck to the kid, tho.

Re: Ed Turns
I thought he was left footed but then I’m sure I saw him play a few times and he was right footed?
Either way, as much as RW has made a big deal of him going, he just wanted him as depth. The reality is he struggled with the physicality of league two and against certain league one teams and isn’t someone I’d say would be a starter for us in the near future if playoffs are the goal

Re: Ed Turns
I agree with LSN, Turns is a good footballer. He’s two footed, yes his physicality lets him down as a CB but he won his fair share of headers and for me he’s better than Cooper. I think Wellens could have played him as a deep lying midfielder instead of Pratley.

Re: Ed Turns
As usual you made some good points. As to ''Wellens could have played him as a deep lying midfielder instead of Pratley'' ...well seems to me that this season Pratley mainly only comes on to see out the last quarter of a game and quite often comes on for Jordan Brown.Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 10:31 am I agree with LSN, Turns is a good footballer. Re: Ed Turns
Decent player. Comfortable on the ball and tactically aware. As mentioned by others I am not sure he’s quite big enough to be a high level centre back. Doesn’t have blistering pace but I think could convert to a more than capable fullback. Not quite tall enough but not a lot he can do about it.

Re: Ed Turns
Great win for Crewe yesterday at Notts County. Ed Turns is certainly on for back to back promotions - and possibly back to back League 2 championships.

Re: Ed Turns
Hoping so - took some 200/1 Crewe after his first game there. Odds still very much out of kilter given their form and position.Highwood Man wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2024 8:45 am Great win for Crewe yesterday at Notts County. Nobody that has any common sense, it’s a right wing Tory rag that allows racism to flourish.

Re: Ed Turns
Brighton signed him to a long contract to retain the value, currently he is a top League Two defender in theory, if he improves and improves he could be worth x amount and then a sell on clause, also if Brighton can charge a loan fee and wages, he pays for himself and then some

Re: Ed Turns
Cooper will get better on the ball the more he’s forced to play this way.
Ed isn’t going to get any taller.
