I've seen him play about 25 minutes of football - at Coggeshall and Charlton - so don't know enough about the lad but nothing I had seen suggested he was anywhere near ready.

Hopefully he has progressed - half a season is a long time at this age. And of course, if he is as good as you are saying he is, now is the time to give him some games. (Although accept it's far from ideal given how much other inexperience is already in the starting XI).

Pegrum had 3 starts for Aveley in NL South immediately following his month's loan, didn't score and wasn't involved again. Assume he's back at the Club or has he been loaned out again?

He could well come good but let's not get carried away.

If they had and Wellens got them into the playoffs or even better got them promoted, that would have put the board in an awkward position. This way they will have achieved there goal (pardon the pun) a mid table position, which the board openly said they wanted at the end of last year. It looks to me they weren’t expecting to do so well so fast? Of course that is a good thing but it would have put them in a dilemma. As said only a conspiracy theory that won’t go down well with everyone on here which I appreciate.
Actually I’m going to upgrade this and think it’s a distinct possibility thinking about it. There’s many on here that are young and haven’t really experienced what I would call the clubs philosophy though out history. And yet I realise that this is now a slightly different era but none the less,us older ones up untill the last couple of years have always been used to the club getting so far then not backing a manager or selling our best assets cheaply. Which ever way look at it you can’t argue the fact the board stated the would settle for mid table this season and maybe a couple more. Personally I think that is a dangerous ploy, because there will be strong teams coming up and strong ones coming down. You can only tread water for so long before you sink.

What happened with Pegrum at Tonbridge Angels? Went there for 2 months but only had a couple of appearances, looks like he only played 1 full game, had some 60 minute run outs and a few sub appearances, then nothing. Injured?

“You can only tread water for so long”

Agreed. Orient have been treading water in League One for *checks notes* nearly two thirds of a season. It’s ridiculous how much we’ve stagnated. Especially considering that the board have sabotaged our inevitable promotion had they just done the obvious thing that would definitely hadve secured promotion.

Though admittedly, I can see us stagnating in the championship next season, failing horribly to rise above treading water in the second tier, showing a dreadful lack of ambition to not be in the premier league by 2026

You can be as sarcastic as you like CEB but the fact is the board said they would be happy to consolidate for a couple years. They failed to back Richie in the transfer window and even he said that. They have left him very very short in the CB position. Yes admittedly we have made significant strides upwards not denying that but playing Russian roulette in mid table whilst being in touching distance from the playoffs.🤷‍♀️ Remember teams can also go down as well as up.

We're 16 points off the bottom 4. Do you know what Russian Roulette is? If so, how does it apply to this situation?

Are you not reading what I’m saying, I’ll try again. Not this season as I think unfortunately we’ve the boat but the next few seasons, although this season could have been achievable (playoffs) but the seasons to come. He needs more backing and signing players early would be step in the right direction.

Looking forward to playing the version of Russian Roulette where if you are unlucky enough to have the barrel with the bullet in it, you get about 6 months to duck

Contrary to what you may think, I’m looking forward to next season and like I said, back the guy and we could achieve something after all if Luton and Bournemouth can make the prem and Wycombe and Peterborough can make the championship why can’t we. The board just has to have the nads.

Yes they did but that’s my point, if they invested we surly would have been very near the playoffs probably in them so did they purposely not give him the funds this season to maintain a mid table position 💁

Put Agyei, Graham, Happe, Brown and Arhcibald in Saturday's side and we beat Burton, or at least hold on for a point. We are missing their quality and nous, but we still have a tough to beat starting XI. I fancy us to beat Oxford on Saturday and go on another decent run, but only if we can avoid more injuries and suspensions.

We won’t get anything at places like Oxford with Edwards and Moncs as our 9 and 10

Moncur is the only bright spot against our run of injuries. Very disappointed with Edwards. May come good but we need wins now. Got to win Saturday. Best team in the league for the first 6 weeks of the calendar year. Such a disappointment if we don’t keep pushing for a top 6 spot.

Agreed, Moncs is greatly improved of late.

But still can’t do the necessary pressing away at the better teams.
