Win at Barnsley and I’ll really believe it’s possible as many of the matches straight after are very winnable. That continued momentum would give the boys a real shot at it.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 06, 2024 11:30 pmI said a couple of weeks ago I thought the gap was too much for us to catch the sixth placed team . I agree. I hate to say it but I am not sure we have the firepower up front to win this one. We are getting better but we have laboured a little against both Carlisle and Port Vale. With Agyei in the side we would have smashed them both.
I would be very content with a draw. Tough, tough game.

Re: Exiles thread - Port Vale (A)
Of all the criticisms that can be levelled at Ruel, poor finishing is not one of them.
I’ve watched the highlights back, desperately searching for all these sitters he missed and can’t see them. Yes, he had a couple of half decent chances but that’s it.
Anyone seriously suggesting we drop Ruel for one of these loaner kids is an idiot.

Re: Exiles thread - Port Vale (A)
Perhaps that’s why Wellens was so p-ssed off Saturday knowing that not signing a “senior striker “ could cost us a playoff place. However if we was to have got that stiker and got into the playoffs then I think he definitely would have been poached by someone? As it isDrWindy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 7:42 amI agree. Beckles is another big loss - Cooper was solid enough last night but we struggle to play at the same tempo as usual with him in the side.

The chance where he hit the bar is obviously a sitter. He's about 7 yards out and it's put on a plate for him.

I thought Cooper played well. Hasn’t started for a good while and slotted in fine. Didn’t let anyone down. The shot that hit the bar was not a half chance. Any decent striker at any level would murder that with only the keeper to beat 8 yards out.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 7:48 am Of all the criticisms that can be levelled at Ruel, poor finishing is not one of them.

Not going to disagree hoover as we all have our opinions but he did miss some sitters last night and perhaps if you can watch some extended highlights then you might change your mind?Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 7:48 am Of all the criticisms that can be levelled at Ruel, poor finishing is not one of them.

Re: Exiles thread - Port Vale (A)
Not sure any were sitters. For sure Harry Kane would have got one but not necessarily a league 1 striker. Got to give credit to the gkeeper too. At least Ruel does not hide

Top of the League on the past 5 matches basis. When Moncur stirred himself in to action he looked a pretty good player. Lets hope we boost the club's coffers with larger crowds & a part in the Play-off final. Time to get the behind the team & build a new ground East of London ( may I suggest Grays )

Re: Exiles thread - Port Vale (A)
It’s a decent chance, albeit on his weaker side, and I’d back him to score that 6/7 times out of 10. Millimetres lower and that goes in off the underside of the bar.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 7:56 amrelentless.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 7:48 am I’ve watched the highlights back, desperately searching for all these sitters he missed and can’t see them. Just saying he’s not as comfortable on the ball as Omar.

Ruel will need to be at his best the rest of the season because of our January transfer window.DrWindy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 7:56 amI thought Cooper played well. Re: Exiles thread - Port Vale (A)
Moncur was pretty good. Obviously still flits in and out of games more we'd like and isn't fit enough, but we look better as an attacking team when he's in the mood. Hes almost impossible to get the ball off of (make your own weight jokes here) and his quick feet means the pace of our attacking play is much faster when he starts. He's involved in nearly all of our best chances last night.
Shame he can't be relied on as when he's on it, we are a stronger team.

He's ok against teams like Port Vale and Carlisle who don't play football and we don't need to press. He is still a liability against any of the top sides when he needs to run around when we're out of possession.

Having paid zero attention to the playoff dates - because why on Earth would I? We're boringly midtable - I've just realised we land back from NZ at 2pm on the day of the playoff final. Feels suddenly inevitable.
