Therein lies the problem. We needed at least one of them even if we'd kept Bonne and Koroma. Lack of competition (quality) on the bench is one of the issues that needs addressing.

That was true up until a couple weeks ago.

With Dennis signing I believe we have a good range of skills up front. Wilkinson hasn't got any track record of scoring at League level but despite that I don't believe this is where our problems lie.

Service into the strikers has been an issue for some time. Let's face it for most of the second half of the season, many of Bonne's performances were of the 'worked hard but had little to work with'. Same for Simpson really.

In some part I do feel that is why Koroma blossomed as Bonne's partner when virtually nobody else over the past two seasons (Mooney, Holman, Alabi, Simpson, Harrold) managed to do so, because only he had the ability to do make something out of nothing. The rest required some service, or in the case of Alabi just not good enough.

TBH, from what I've seen so far, I think Angol is a better player than Bonne. On the other hand , I wish we still had Koroma . He's an exciting player who can make something out of nothing.
Agree. And by what little, I too, have seen of Angol, I'll go as far as to say I think he'll be a much better player than Bonne.
Angol and Bonne are different types of players, you cannot really compare them on a like for like basis. Now Angol and Bonne in partnership would have been good. Bonne doing all the graft and Angol feeding off him.
Of course they are different types of players, Sid....

On one hand Dennis seems to be seen as the answer for two positions. On the other hand due to Jobi and Dayton being injured and out of action for some time yet we're short of wide players so if we do go back to 4-4-2 at some point in the near future he can't play in two places at once.

Dennis definitely puts us in a better position than where we were a few weeks ago but still short imo. Ideally we'd bring in a striker and CM but with the budget seemingly being squeezed the midfield is more of a priority for reinforcements.

Angol has the tricky feet to create something but whether his shooting boots are laced with the same stardust that appeared in Koroma's at times last season will be the challenge. Sure he blasted loads wide and over but some of the goals from distance were things of beauty.

Agree about Bonne not getting enough service, as to Simpson, well IMO, he was never really match fit enough when he played for us recently and he had not done much in his time away from us in the USA before he re-joined us. When Simpson came back to the Os in February 2019, he was ''bigged'' up by some on this forum as a forward who to quote would ''Rip this league'' well never happened, admittedly he did not get that much time to adjust and impress and he also got a niggling injury that after a while, restricted him to the bench. Simpson has now joined Cypriot club Nea Salamina on a 1-year contract.

The budget hasn't been squeezed at all - that's just your bias showing. The budget was actually increased from the one originally agreed in April and is available to spend if we wish. We're clearly just choosing not to at present.

Why? Just because we have a budget we don't need to spunk it all up the wall when the season has barely started.

Don't agree with us not reinforcing in midfield but can clearly see that they're wanting to see how things go for now before bringing anyone in.

Would be nice to have a squad in and settled rather than hoping for a miracle from someone coming in mid-season because we didn't address the deficiencies months beforehand. How long does it take for the club to realise we need an enforcer in CM, into 2 seasons now.

100 % absolutely this. We’ve had nearly all the play but no end product.

Charlton have signed Tomer Hemed and now have four strikers in their squad but only play one upfront. Can we have him back on loan please?

Not sure about that. Loaning back to him could be seen as an admission that signing him was a mistake. Reckon they would send him on loan to a League One team though.

Yeah and only two of those are good enough to start on a regular basis, not sure whether Dennis is a striker yet. Bonne is more likely to join a League One side but we can only hope. May be more realistic in January.

Harrold was the last one to score for Orient in open play. Coulson is Orient's top scorer since January from open play.

I know why he went but it was the wrong decision.

If it had been last season when Charlton were still in L1, that would have been the perfect move for him. Championship is just a step too far - at least for now.

Can we do and In and Out list to see of that stacks up?

Out:
Bonne
Koroma
Simpson
Lee
Lawless
Grainger

In:
Angol
Wilkinson
Wright
Dennis

We will also be paying the management team less after losing Justin.

Overall the current wage bill must be significantly down on last season.

It's not a fair comparison though. You're comparing the final team/use of budget at the end of last season to the present squad a few weeks into the season with players still to come in at various points. I trust what Teague says as far as the budget goes because it makes sense that we don't just blow it all before the season starts.

Going on loan to Ipswich apparently.
