Its a well known fact that things in square packets don't taste as good as things in pyramids. Its been known for years and is scientifically proven but because of the logistical issues of stacking pyramid shaped boxes of Shreddies, milk and tofu, Big Packaging have conspired against us. Its a real shame they obviously got to PG Tips as well, they were the last ones making a stand for us all. RIPyramid.

As further evidence, consider how a sandwich cut in half diagonally to form 2 right angled triangles is infinitely tastier to one cut in half to form 2 rectangles

My dilemma is that, when preparing a sausage sandwich; what is the optimal layout pattern for the sausages so to maximise the effectiveness of the diagonal cut?

I've always bought PG Tips when available. The square (non-pyramid) teabags do have a very different taste, and the box I bought last month will be the last I buy.

But what happens to the sausages in the corners? Wouldn't a diagonal pattern, that divides along the anticipated cut point, be optimal?

Best I've come up with and after all that careful cutting, you get a superflous bit of sausage as a quick appetiser.

I've just guessed measurements- 15cm x 15cm bread, sausages are 11.5cm x 2.5cm and this is based on one sausage(sliced lengthways) per half sandwich. If you were really mad, I guess you could slice the sausages horizontally, into little circles and fill it that way.

Excellent work. And it's interesting that the superfluous bit of sausage ends up also being a triangle.

2 sausages sliced in half long ways, first sausage laid down the middle either side of the cut, depends on dimensions but most likely without any further cuts. Second sausage cut approximately 2/3 v 1/3, 2/3 laid diagonally then 1/3 laid in the corner.

So many better brands out there , from Sainsbury’s Red Label , Yorkshire extra strong etc . My favourite is M&S own brand.

With you on this - and you they're in pairs so you have to manually separate them out. I presume that's what the chimps used to do, so I feel like I'm taking a job from a chimp. Curiously my boss often says the exact same thing.

Couldn't agree with you more about the demise of the pyramid shaped teabags.
I don't like these square shaped bags at all.

I managed to find some old stock , on line , and I'm drinking them slowly...............

I don't have this problem with my orange pekoe tea. One has to use a tea strainer but the leaves are large, so all very easy. It is a shame that the brewed tea leaves have a resemblance to impressively long bogeys!
