Re: Moncur leaving in Jan window
I heard a championship side was interested but Moncs said he’s only interested in sideways moves

Re: Moncur leaving in Jan window
A Gills fan of my acquaintance tells me Moncs is the hot rumour down Kent way.

Not heard anything but makes sense for all parties, even if only a loan until the end of this season.

Re: Moncur leaving in Jan window
Find it hard to believe anyone who would take on such hefty wages for someone so hefty, so if he does go, we'd be part subsidising it. But find it hard to believe this one.
Odd to think that a player who played 43 games in a promotion season and was our second top scorer could also have been a bit of a disappointment. But knowing how much talent he has and how much he cost makes it inevitable we'd feel a bit short changed. If he got fit he'd be a really valuable player for us but nothing indicates he's capable of that sadly.

Find it hard to believe he played 43 games for us last season, is that for real?

Re: Moncur leaving in Jan window
If we had the budget he’d be an asset coming off the bench when winning narrowly or under the cosh as his feet are incredible. One of those luxury style players we can’t carry in League One but was able to in League Two.
Would love to see if he could be converted to a deep lying playmaker but would put a lot of pressure on defence and midfield to do the donkey work

Could have knocked me down with a feather too but according to this, there were only 3 (THREE!) League games he didn't feature in last season: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/george- ... ler/121238Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2024 10:08 am Find it hard to believe he played 43 games for us last season, is that for real?

Re: Moncur leaving in Jan window
If he goes I hope people will remember him for last seasons contribution, he hardly wasted possession, was almost impossible to knock off the ball, and played a big part in our success. Had he continued that way this season he would have been a fantastic asset but he doesn't look fit and hasn't done for a while and doesn't influence games anymore.

Perfect pen record as well I think? Plus that goal against WimbledonTop of the JES wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2024 10:29 am If he goes I hope people will remember him for last seasons contribution, he hardly wasted possession, was almost impossible to knock off the ball, and played a big part in our success. Still think he's a good player, but its obvious RW doesn't fancy him anymore

Re: Moncur leaving in Jan window
Its not so much that he does not look fit but he's the sort that needs to play to get match fit. Unfortunately the game is a bit faster and physically more demanding in league one and he falls short compared to others in our squad at a time when we can't afford passengers. He was a luxury we could afford last season.Top of the JES wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2024 10:29 am If he goes I hope people will remember him for last seasons contribution, he hardly wasted possession, was almost impossible to knock off the ball, and played a big part in our success. Re: Moncur leaving in Jan window
Not helped by the fact we are naturally spending less time without the ball at this level than last season.

Re: Moncur leaving in Jan window
Moncur is a really skilful player, but he's of little use now that his fitness is so low, that he struggles to play half an hour.
Its a real shame, but if we could get rid, we would save a big wage ( for us).
I wont forget his contribution for us in league 2

Re: Moncur leaving in Jan window
For all the negativity around his fitness, I’d still say he’s one of our most gifted players in terms of ability on the ball. Such a shame he’s not been able to translate that into regular goal contributions as I had him down as another Sean Thornton when he joined us
