We now have 35 points.........
..........with 20 games left to play. If we could win 13 and draw 4 of those 20 games, it would leave us with 78 points for the season....probably enough for a play off place!
If we play like we did yesterday, and we get no more major injuries, we must have a squeak of a chance f getting enough points for the play offs
Whatd'yer reckon?

Re: We now have 35 points.........
So if we hit title winning form over the last half of the season, we can squeeze into the play offs?

We are currently 10th. Anything above that will be a real bonus in our first season back in League 1 especially with missing Agyei, Sanders and Graham for so much of the season.

Re: We now have 35 points.........
Play Offs although a possibility, and imo a very slim one, but after yesterday’s performance and our last 4 games, we should be allowed to dream, after all we are the current L2 champions and only team in L1 who can call themself, current champions
So for me, I would like to see us reach 45 points as quick as possible, I believe this will be enough points to secure L1 status for next season.
Once we get 45 points and secure our L1 status for next season, then any more points after are a bonus, and you never know, a flirt with the play offs might be possible.

Re: We now have 35 points.........
Wasn’t so long ago we were talking about relegation, playoffs I think are a step to far and to quickly imo. 10th would be fine by me in our first season. I agree with Wellens about all the players adapting to this league especially the younger ones. Our first 6/8 games we were to frighted and now we are growing in confidence and that is a very big part of football. The Bolton game will be the bench mark.if they bring in two players(I have doubts) I think we can give them a game. It will all be about our performance and not necessarily about the result. At the moment we have consistency and confidence and long may it continue.

I agree. Too many people were calling for Richie’s head to be stuck on a pike on London Bridge.Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 11:09 am Wasn’t so long ago we were talking about relegation, playoffs I think are a step to far and to quickly imo. 10th would be fine by me in our first season. I was one,I said he won’t be here next season NOT because he’s a bad manager far from it but because he’s relatively young is northern based and probably wants to go as far as he can, unfortunately at this time he can only take the club so far

Re: We now have 35 points.........
RW has more patience than you, he knows the game more than you, he knows we have to build a team that in time will challenge for a place in the play offs it’s a long term project he’s doing a great job, but we know next time we have a set back there will be many people on here (including you) lining up to tell him and Travis what they are doing wrong, lots of panic on here in September that we are not good enough to stay in League One when it was obvious we needed to get players back from injury. If we can sign Cooper and a wide player and El Miz isn’t sold by Ipswich we will finish comfortably mid table which is what I and others have predicted from the start of the season.Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 11:37 amChorizO wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 11:26 amI agree. How far do you expect Orient to go? This is Orientms level. Unless they get some very rich owners, this is the extent of it.Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 11:37 amChorizO wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 11:26 amI agree. Re: We now have 35 points.........
I think the Playoffs are a stretch too far, we'd have to be pretty faultless between now and May to make it and our squad isn't up to that.
But the fact it's even on anyone's lips is incredible and testament to the work Wellens is doing. Form can fluctuate pretty wildly at times but it's a real bonus that he's shown he can get us out of a rut. He enjoyed the new manager bounce when he first joined but since then, and until the start of this season, most things had gone pretty swimmingly. The fact he dragged us out of the November/December slump by getting back to basics and building from there is incredibly encouraging.

This is the first spell we’ve had anything near a full squad to pick from. And that’s still with Graham laid up, who looked just as exciting as Agyei.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 1:14 pm I think the Playoffs are a stretch too far, we'd have to be pretty faultless between now and May to make it and our squad isn't up to that.

The fact we had people doubting Wellens back in Nov/Dec is embarrassing in the extreme. Absolute f**kwits.

Re: We now have 35 points.........
Understandably we're all on a high after yesterday's fantastic result but we've got to keep our feet on the ground . I know it's football so anything can happen but I can't see us being able to bridge that gap now on the 6th placed team. . This is only our first season back in League One so all I care about this season is staying outside the bottom four . If we did manage to sneak into the play off spots , for me it would be a Brucie bonus .ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 10:09 am ..........with 20 games left to play. Re: We now have 35 points.........
I disagree . I think we can make it into the Championship but at this moment in time I don't think the club is ready . Consolidation in League 1 for a couple of seasons and build a platform for the next step up . Saying that , obviously if we did manage to somehow pull it off this season and got promoted I'd be as happy as a pig in sh*t .BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2024 1:07 pmHow far do you expect Orient to go? For some reason I've been thinking 52 points was the safety margin .
