Any team can have only5 loan players . With Cooper we had 5 so someone had to be returned to enable us to loan a forward which we need. Therefore Cooper was the obvious choice. He won’t be missed with his reputation

Thompson hasn't been much more than a last resort so ideally he'd go out on loan to sort a move for summer (surely won't be extended?) and either cheaper loan come in so we can use budget upfront
I would not bet on Thompson being sent out on loan, more likely Os will keep trying to get him fit then he can be useful as a spare defender who can be used on the on the subs bench

Clubs are allowed up to 8 loan players but the maximum allowed in the match day squad is 5. Therefore him staying or going has no bearing on our ability to bring in a loan striker.

As it stands our squad is now weaker than it was.

Turns and Happe as a center back pairing is the stuff of nightmares. They'd get absolutely bullied against a physical team.

Wouldn't be surprised if we manage to move on Thompson and bring in a longer term player for that 4th centre back role. We need to gradually upgrade our squad and that is one position where we don't have the quality we need to progress upwards.

You are right 8 loan players can be signed but only 2 can be over 23 years old You are allowed to play up to 5 loan players in any match

This, ideally a Whing / Turley type player who can do CB and LB / RB to give us cover in two spots
