DCL's red card which the ref didn't give, then was told to go to the screen by the VAR and then changed to give has been rescinded. VAR should be replaced by automated decisions, the opinion stuff is completely flawed.

Watching the games at non prem grounds, I loved not having var.
The problem now is that the standard of reffing risks getting lower the more they rely on var. they know that if they mess up they have var to fall back on. I think they shy away from some big decisions for that reason. However, the way var works today means that the on field decision can affect the outcome.

No, I mean on field decisions.

In the context of Var, as I stated, the rules around var dictate that a decision is changed if a clear and obvious error has been made by the on-field officials. Therefore, in some, but not all cases, a ref not giving a pen because they effectively bottle it and want var to check may lead to a different var outcome to if they did give it onfield

Well, I guess they see it as an objective rule. You either are or aren’t offside. Pens aren’t as clear cut

its clear and obvious that their definition of clear and obvious varies from cases to case and some ( not me) would say its clear and obvious that the use of the clear and obvious test is biased in favour of the big clubs
