Bi-annual transfer blame-athon: whom to blame?
Before people start ignorantly chucking blame at various LOFC staff members, does anyone actually know:
- How the budget is set for a transfer window?
- Who identifies which areas of the squad we need to address?
- Who identifies the shortlists of players we want to go after?
- Who decides which players to prioritise for signing?
- Who talks to those players to 'sell' our 'project''?
- Who is responsible for negotiating the contracts?
- Who is responsible for signing off on the negotiated contracts?

Addressed by Travis previously. Two budgets were discussed and agreed before the end of last season A league One Budget along with a League Two budget if it all went tits up. RW agreed the budget was competitive it was a condition of him signing a new contract. This season we had an initial budget of £3.6 million and £400k held back for January but because of injuries in pre season the £400k was largely spent in September before the summer window closed.
- Who identifies which areas of the squad we need to address?

- Who identifies the shortlists of players we want to go after?
RW and his staff and ML with advice from Steve Foster .
- Who decides which players to prioritise for signing?
RW
- Who talks to those players to 'sell' our 'project''?
ML the staff at Costa Coffee and RW.
- Who is responsible for negotiating the contracts?
ML who has the budget constraints to work within.
- Who is responsible for signing off on the negotiated contracts?

Isn’t it the fault of fans who don’t by burgers at the ground on match days?

Thanks, Top Of The JES - I have the impression you listen to the various podcasts and are pretty clued up, so I'll take your assertions as accurate.
Still, will look forward to an ignorant minority blaming Martin Ling entirely for what is bound to be a multi-stage process involving any number of club staff.

Top-drawer answer!
I was wondering if we should expand the thread, adding ‘Do we need a DoF at all?’ The game seemed to work ok for decades without them.

The app negates the need for a Director of Food doesn't it.Orient_Man_And_Boy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 09, 2024 2:27 pmTop-drawer answer!

No burgers on the app. Premium beef hotdogs, pie and mash or a chocolate bar. ML can’t be buying up all the burgers if there aren’t any. Just thought I’d join the pedants.
