If the Head of Recruitment is recruiting lots of people, surely that's the sign of a job well done?

Re: Col Utd
Its the owner making these decisions, not Ross. Yet another veiled criticism against someone who will go down in Orient history. Pathetic.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2024 10:11 am

How, exactly, will Ross Embleton “go down in Orient History” - he didn’t really achieve anything of note, did he?

whether they achieve anything or not, they will go down in Orient history . They were a part of Orient for the time they were here

Re: Col Utd
Aside from the Embleton digs, something clearly not right at Colchester. They made a real fuss of getting Etherington after he had contractual issues after his stint at Crawley but have ditched him so quickly.

Not sure that's the case - they appointed him and then found out about his issues, didn't they?Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2024 1:39 pm Aside from the Embleton digs, something clearly not right at Colchester. Regardless, yep agreed, clearly something is not right - doesn't matter who they bring in to coach their squad, they can't get anything out of the group of players they have there.

I don't have a grudge against Ross but he was mediocre at very best. Why on Earth would he "go down in history" apart from "being at the O's" as pointed out by the MB's chief pedant, Mr Spenny. Beats me.Long slender neck wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2024 1:36 pmAssistant when NL champions

Re: Col Utd
It's a period that most of us would rather forget. TBF to him, he was "in charge" through the pandemic - which was probably the most disengaging time ever for watching Orient... but even if we'd been able to attend throughout, it was pretty uninspiring stuff.BoniO wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2024 3:38 pmI don't have a grudge against Ross but he was mediocre at very best. Also did well with the players he had and no budget to play with . Only one or two of the players went on to do anything at other clubs.Long slender neck wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2024 1:36 pmAssistant when NL champions

He did such a good job at managing Orient that no other club have hired him as a manager since…soloman wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2024 9:25 pmAlso did well with the players he had and no budget to play with . Let’s be honest. He’s probably a decent coach but he was a pretty awful first team manager. He got the gig at Orient originally in very difficult circumstances then took it on the second time when the club didn’t want to spend any money on bringing a new manager in.
He deserves to be treated with respect by Orient fans but to suggest he’ll do down in club history is a bit steep

He took over in heartbreaking circumstances and steadied the ship significantly. I'd say that's something of note.

Re: Col Utd
Had he stuck to his original plan of stepping back once that initial period was over he would've been held in much higher regard than what came later imo.Loyal_Supporter wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 3:42 pmHe took over in heartbreaking circumstances and steadied the ship significantly. Re: Col Utd
Just looking back over his record, I can’t believe he was our manager for almost 2 years. Staggering.
What we have achieved since 2017 is remarkable when you think we lost those 2 zombie years after Justin’s passing.

Ross has signed Conor. Decent League Two player IMO.
