Joe Taylor?

Post by PKM »

Ritchie said we’ve looking for a forward, could it be this guy?

To compound Colchester's problems, leading scorer Joe Taylor has been recalled from his loan spell by parent club Luton Town after netting 12 times in 27 appearances and, according to Etherington, could now join a League One club.

From BBC site.

Interesting thought, I saw another article saying Luton had received enquiries from four L1 clubs, so he's clearly going somewhere.

TBH, I don't know anything about this player. Do you think he would be a good signing ?

Could be. Young at 21, but played around 50 matches.
At 5’7’’ he’s obviously not a big lump up front, so probably fit in well with Ritchies preferrred style of play. Done well for Colchester. He ain’t going to get in Luton’s first team so they might as well sell him or loan out at a higher level.
Scored 20 goals for Wroxham ( that’s Wroxham, not Wrexham!) in a mere 11 matches, if that counts for anything , which it probably doesn’t.
We could do a lot worse but, as noted, 4 L1 clubs interested, possibly including us.

Very decent goal return considering he’s been playing in a struggling team but described in local ( Colchester) press as “ inconsistent”.👍

Scoring 12 goals in 27 games in a struggling side suggests he'd be a good addition .

If I were a betting man which I’m not I’d put money on him joining Peterborough or Oxford at a guess?

He’s already had a 18 month stint at Posh before they sold him to Luton, so very unlikely to go back there again, that wouldn’t be a good bet.
If we do want him, think we’ve got as good a chance as anyone.

Luton’s take on the type of player he is

Chief Recruitment Officer Mick Harford added: “We have tracked Joe for a long period of time, and have got many reports on him. We’ve seen him play in many various types of game, at training grounds and at the main stadium, and he always seems to be on the shoulder of the last defender, looking for that ball over the top to run in behind.

“He’s got good pace and we believe he’s a real threat who will always create chances for himself. He needs a little bit of work and time, but we believe we can develop him into a top striker here.”

When has Richie been a fan of playing over the top ?

Can’t see any price in that article. Hardly think Colchester were forking out a bomb.

Playing on the shoulder doesn’t necessarily mean a ball over the top, when playing on the shoulder you can turn a defender in one movement plus your not receiving the ball square on, which Drinnan does, also it allows you to run into space behind the defender just as May and Hoskins do.

I'm Joe & you aren't, as Wellens has never used Drinan on the shoulder of defenders. If you can't see that it proves you really aren't Football intelligent.
