Well done RW & the team
Omar & Hunt were warriors today. Theo did well as well. Dan A looks a player even in a short cameo at the end. Well done all

Re: Well done RW & the team
I love RW’s openness and honesty, he puts his hand up if he gets things wrong, and I thought his take on his Bolton game and the explanation on the younger players having to play in such arenas to get that experience made sense.
I think the priority was getting the experience out there for Charlton. iT is about managing the players’ time on the pitch, El Miz who has had a knock, and Agyei for example. Agyei must be a defender’s worst nightmare coming off the bench late, looks a real handful, and RW is sensibly managing his minutes post injury.

Re: Well done RW & the team
Richie proved last year that he’s an extremely good manager. We’re lucky to have him. With the bad luck with injuries this season it’s like he’s got us to mid table with only one boot on . That takes some doing. This season is just about stabilising ourselves back in League One. If we finished 13th this season I would be very happy. Consolidate this season and then maybe think about pushing for a playoff spot next season.EastDerehamO wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 9:01 am I love RW’s openness and honesty, he puts his hand up if he gets things wrong, and I thought his take on his Bolton game and the explanation on the younger players having to play in such arenas to get that experience made sense.

Re: Well done RW & the team
Agreed, these were the stand outs today. But everyone did a job. There was bugger all quality on display but all 11 players stuck to their jobs and put in a dogged, determined performance. Everyone is saying how bad Charlton were - including their fans - but that is down to us and how up for it we were. The front 4 were so disciplined in stopping them from playing out. Their 4 is a quality player but just couldn't get on the ball.Lifelongfan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2023 5:13 pm Omar & Hunt were warriors today. Theo did well as well. Especially pleased for Omar who was rightly dropped after a dodgy start to the season, and Hunt who showed how good he is when played at full back rather than wing back.

It’s also a bit of a slap in the face for those who say Richie is rigid and not very adjustable.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 12:19 pmAgreed, these were the stand outs today. First game of the season we noticeably stepped off the their back four and let them play. I think Richie might have been said in the post match interview that he was happy for their CBs to have it. We missed a chance that day and yesterday he completely changed that and put pressure on their defence, which gave us numerous turnovers

Re: Well done RW & the team
I’ve never known an Orient manager change formation and style of play as much as Richie.
Yesterday was possibly the first time this season we’ve set up how he wants us to play - 4-2-3-1 with the front 4 pressing high and hard.

Re: Well done RW & the team
Don't think we're quite there as wingers were playing on their natural foot, and he'd rather have them cut in with the full backs pushing up to create overloads in the final third. But he's still figuring out how to adjust to the fact that some players have struggled with the step up.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 11:16 pm I’ve never known an Orient manager change formation and style of play as much as Richie.

I think once we've had a bit of a overhaul in the summer we're going to start seeing how Wellens wants to play at this level. We're short of a mobile no.9, a fit no.10 and full backs good enough to get forwards whilst also defending well imo. But think he can eek us out survival, which remains the real target.

People tend to forget Richie has had his hands tied this season due to our injury situation. Trust me, I’m happy enough being in 13th spot and would take that final finish right nowRich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 2:42 pmIt’s also a bit of a slap in the face for those who say Richie is rigid and not very adjustable.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Dec 27, 2023 12:19 pmAgreed, these were the stand outs today. Amazing, well done Richie, you guys jump on people’s back when we criticise if the team plays badly so it’s only fair that your criticised for crawling up there back side if they win. Remind me how much he gets paid and how much the players earn compared to a nurse, doctor or firemen. Don’t think he done that well against Portsmouth,Oxford, Lincoln, Cheltenham,Derby,Stevenage,Bolton,Fleetwood,Gillingham,Wycombe. One win and your all over him like a rash.It wasn’t even that convincing imo against a poor side. Hate to think if they win two on the trot, your have to be surgically removed from his backside. It’s a win that’s a positive but let’s wait till they put in a couple of good performances till we start wetting ourselves.soloman wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2023 9:19 pmYer ,RW did well today and got his tactics spot on ,he's learning all the time . They put in a really good performance second half v Bolton but you don’t seem to have acknowledged that.Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 7:19 pmAmazing, well done Richie, you guys jump on people’s back when we criticise if the team plays badly so it’s only fair that your criticised for crawling up there back side if they win. They lost end of. He set up wrongly. It’s his job and this season he’s made a few to many mistakes. Once he gets the hang of this league I expect our performances will improve hopefullyHoover Attack wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 7:26 pmThey put in a really good performance second half v Bolton but you don’t seem to have acknowledged that.Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 7:19 pmAmazing, well done Richie, you guys jump on people’s back when we criticise if the team plays badly so it’s only fair that your criticised for crawling up there back side if they win. Re: Well done RW & the team
Yes he did but in general this season he’s got more wrong than right, what’s disturbing is he doesn’t know his team to me. Theo plays better on the left yet he keeps switching him. Ruel is no front man. He keeps switching from 3 to 4 at the back. 3 in midfield then 5. But one swallow does not a summer make. More stability is neededHoover Attack wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 8:54 pm But against Charlton, he won. End of.

Re: Well done RW & the team
13th in League One after an injury crisis at the start of the season which has continued with the loss of one of our most creative players (Graham) and people still moan. Of course Wellens has got things wrong this season he did at times last season but has proved he is a very good manager - OK his choice of personnel in midfield at Bolton came back to haunt him but he rectified it and we could still have got a point (two goalbound efforts blocked on the line in added time). This season is about staying in League one and has been from day one - it hasn't been the flowing football we often played last season but I imagine most O's fans don't care less as long as we finish above the bottom four this season. However there are as we know people who criticise at every opportunity despite being basically clueless or as HA states correctly whiny *****.

Thankfully the clueless whingers are small in number but sadly they make a lot of noise on here.
I don’t think avoiding the bottom 4 should have been our aim for the season, we’re better than that, at least with a full squad.

Yep, middle eight I think is realistic (predicted that in August) and I think that's where we will finish given we keep the squad fit and can add a couple in January.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 9:54 pm Thankfully the clueless whingers are small in number but sadly they make a lot of noise on here.

Getting into that middle pack and being mathematically safe with 4-5 games to go would be ideal. Will need some work in January to get there though as the competition around us strengthen.Top of the JES wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 9:59 pmYep, middle eight I think is realistic (predicted that in August) and I think that's where we will finish given we keep the squad fit and can add a couple in January.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 9:54 pm Thankfully the clueless whingers are small in number but sadly they make a lot of noise on here.
