"we're all about developing young kids"
Is that you talking Richie or the DoF? I'm sure I've heard that line before but not from the manager.
We won L2 with quality senior pros for the level, the lack of experience this season in comparison is very telling.
As suspected we need a clearout in January but the limited options don't sound hopeful if it's just more youths coming in.

I get the impression from that interview there will be one or two players either going out on loan or permanently or order to bring others in . Who's not been playing regularly , Sweeney perhaps

Sweeney, Thompson, Moncur and Happe (not in the non-playing group but definitely one I can see wanting a move away if he can find one)

Why does he keep going on about age and experience, he picks the team!
On the bench
Pratley - Experienced as they come
Ayegi - 26
Moncur 30
Sanders - 24
El Miz - Probably the best player in League Two last year
Turns - Fair enough
He makes it sound like he has a bench of Tanga, Pegrum, Koroma and kids

He probably keeps going on about experience because it’s so f*cking obvious a lack of experience is our biggest issue right now.essexfootball wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 8:23 pm Why does he keep going on about age and experience, he picks the team!

No it isn't, it's Wellens keeps getting it wrong to start with, then fixes it but by then it's almost too lateHoover Attack wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 8:25 pmHe probably keeps going on about experience because it’s so f*cking obvious a lack of experience is our biggest issue right now.essexfootball wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 8:23 pm Why does he keep going on about age and experience, he picks the team!

Wrong. He is forced to play a system he doesn’t want ro because of injuriesessexfootball wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 8:50 pmNo it isn't, it's Wellens keeps getting it wrong to start with, then fixes it but by then it's almost too lateHoover Attack wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 8:25 pmHe probably keeps going on about experience because it’s so f*cking obvious a lack of experience is our biggest issue right now.essexfootball wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 8:23 pm Why does he keep going on about age and experience, he picks the team!

That's every manager of every team in every league, that's football, also currently one injured Graham, that's it! Oh Drizzy too but I don't count that,BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Sun Dec 24, 2023 12:08 amWrong. Only two injured but they’re key players in determining the formation.essexfootball wrote: ↑Sun Dec 24, 2023 12:36 amThat's every manager of every team in every league, that's football, also currently one injured Graham, that's it! Drinnan out and Agyei not yet fully fit means he has to play Piggot up top, so we can’t play the high tempo pressing game he wants to play.
Graham out leaves only Theo as a natural wide attacker, meaning he has to resort to wing backs.
We’re also carrying our highest paid player who isn’t contributing anything.

Who knows. I don't mind him when we have the ball, he's got good feet, intelligent, strong and wins more than he loses. But he's another Moncuresque passenger when we're defending, not mobile enough to play the high pressing game Richie wants.

Excuses, excuses. Just as long that we dare not put any blame onto the manager.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Sun Dec 24, 2023 8:28 amOnly two injured but they’re key players in determining the formation.essexfootball wrote: ↑Sun Dec 24, 2023 12:36 amThat's every manager of every team in every league, that's football, also currently one injured Graham, that's it! He's good but he's not perfect and just like many of our squad, he's still got a lot to learn.
