What meat are you having for Christmas?
Can’t do Turkey and don’t understand why some people force themselves to have it at Christmas despite not eating it for 364 other days of the year
Got some charcuterie meats and mussels to start, beef rib for main and cheese board for dessert this year.
Will probably have some antacid tablets as dessert two

Re: What meat are you having for Christmas?
I am with you on the turkey (although I have bought a crown for Christmas dinner) If it were down to me I wouldn't buy it. Over priced, dry and generally pretty average meat at best. I would rather lamb or beef, both are cheaper tastier cuts of meat. I only done the turkey this year because the outlaws are coming and they like itCurrywurst and Chips wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 1:34 pm Can’t do Turkey and don’t understand why some people force themselves to have it at Christmas despite not eating it for 364 other days of the year

I’ve got two big turkeys, a gammon and a vegan roast thing. Joy.

Tesco mate. Lamb is £10.20 a KG, Turkey is £10.80 a KG.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 4:12 pmWhere are you shopping where turkey is more expensive than lamb?oriboy wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 2:54 pmI am with you on the turkey (although I have bought a crown for Christmas dinner) If it were down to me I wouldn't buy it. Plus lamb is a far tastier meat than a dry old turkey.

Turkey mince is actually quite a good lower fat replacement for beef mince. I use it regularly.Currywurst and Chips wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 1:34 pm Can’t do Turkey and don’t understand why some people force themselves to have it at Christmas despite not eating it for 364 other days of the year

Re: What meat are you having for Christmas?
Having roast forerib of beef with all the usual stuff (inc cauli cheese, obvs) on the actual day.
Had a lovely turkey breast roast with roast gammon tonight, principally to provide the leftovers which are such an integral part of Christmas dining.
Bon appetite all

Agree. My partner doesn’t like beef so I almost exclusively use turkey or chicken mince for spag bolThe Reverend wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 6:46 pmTurkey mince is actually quite a good lower fat replacement for beef mince.
