I think we'll have greater ambitions than that. If that's what Ling is saying to Bonne, he'll be off to Sunderland in a shot.Article_50 wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 5:49 pmOur aim is to finish mid table in League 2, not to challenge Man City and Liverpool !

Re: Paul Mccallum
With his great power in the air, Paul is a very good option to have up our sleeve. Football is not all about pretty passing patterns etc, its purely about putting the ball in the net, McCallum is good at that !ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 10:53 am Justin Edinburgh likes his wingers to cut inside, that's why Brophy has been playing out of position all season. He's an old fashioned left winger, but has been told to play the number ten position. Put him back on the wing and he will destroy teams with his pace and crosses.
I really want Paul McCallum back here for sure. With him and Bonne up front, we would score a lot of goals IMO.

Re: Paul Mccallum
Sunderland are one of a number of Championship clubs that have been "linked" with him. I expect that this means they've been watching him, but judging from his own recent comments I doubt he'll be leaving this summer. But I expect a large part of his decision to stay will be based on Ling et al saying that we will be competing for promotion again next year.

I dont feel McCallum works hard enough without the ball but if JE et al think otherwise and sign him, I trust their judgement over mine.

I love Bonne, but I still think there are questions over whether he will perform in L2, let alone the Championship.

So you obviously haven’t read or seen the interview that says Bonne is staying from Bonne himselfChief crazy horse wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 11:55 amIs that serious, about Bonne and Sunderland?OyinbO wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 11:03 amI think we'll have greater ambitions than that. Money always talks. Who could blame him if he took an opportunity? Look at what happened to Moses when he went to Hull. Injury can make it a short career.

Re: Paul Mccallum
Bonne can provide the workrate. We really need someone that will stay in the middle and provide options, as far too many times we set up well but don't have anyone able to attack the ball in the middle.

Re: Paul Mccallum
This is a valid point. The way we defend is with Bonne and Koroma working their arses off to stop the back 4 playing the ball out, forcing the keeper to go long, which our back 3 can deal with.
I'm not sure Paul would be up for that.

Re: Paul Mccallum
We don't - too many times there are no options in the middle, especially when Bonne drops off or goes wide. Then our attacks break down. So I'm fine with McCallum coming in and staying central.Lucky7 wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 12:54 pmYeah we doSmendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 12:49 pmBonne can provide the workrate. Re: Paul Mccallum
Kind of agree with you. My only reservation is his movement, which might be limited and his injury record. Is it a gamble?ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 10:53 am Justin Edinburgh likes his wingers to cut inside, that's why Brophy has been playing out of position all season. Thierry Henry
Alan Shearer
Dennis Bergkamp
Diego Maradonna
These are all great strikers. I'm not sure a striker playing most of his career in lowest reaches of EFL or non league is a great striker. Especially one who has not played anyehre near 100 games even in the EFL
When he was at Orient, he averaged less than 1 goal in 3 games. Not the record of a GREAT striker

Re: Paul Mccallum
Twelve goals in 33 games for us in his last season when we were in League 2
Same season we had 5 managers (including the genius Cavasin and Omer Riza), the club finished bottom( by ten points) and were a shitshow top to bottom

Re: Paul Mccallum
What's his scoring record like?
I thought he was a keeper given the number of saves he is said to have made

I'm not sure Paul would be up for that.
Don't remember much about him but if I doubted his work rate 4 years ago, I'm guessing it hasn't increased in the intervening period.
Was he not also bit of a sicknote?
