Morning Pound, yep your not wrong but I just can’t see them dipping into there pockets unfortunately, I think the only way to do that would be to sell, I think the only commodity they have at the moment is Dan Hap. Weather he would bring enough funds in is debatable?PoundhillO wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 11:00 amI totally understand your points, however your last point that we are not a rich club surely has to be weighted against the fact that we will be a lot poorer if we get relegated and all the implications that go with that.Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 10:42 amHi Red, yes you have a good point, many opinions on here point out different things that are going wrong at the moment, imo it’s not just down to one thing. Re: Give RW the funds
With Thompson back, and Beckles back by January, maybe we'll have to opt out of extending Cooper's loan to free up funds for an attacking position loan? Not ideal but it may be a matter of priorities. 7

Re: Give RW the funds
It’s strange, because Richie has had a couple of windows to sort things out and bring in the players he wanted and really hasn’t prioritised in the positions that he really needed to.,ie a couple of decent central attackers and a attacking midfielder, now you could argue that Moncur should fit into that position but as many have said he’s just not fit or pacy enough. Surely Richie can see this in training? I would also argue about the boards decision to award players only a two year contract. If you are a 100% sure on a player then you give him a three year contract. For instance if we had given Smyth a 3 year deal then we would be quids in and the same for Vigs. Peterborough are very good at this. Stevenage are doing well because they sign players early and get in before anyone else. I know it’s easier said than done but I really think if we stay up(which I’m sure we will) think we must take a look at our long term strategy .

Re: Give RW the funds
Thing is Cooper has probably been our best centre back and there is no way we can rely upon Thompson both for fitness and quality at this level. I'd rather we lose Turns, who has looked not really good enough for League 1.

Cooper is an upgrade on Alex Mitchell, but he's still a bit too old school for our brand of tippy tappy football. Richie will choose Turns all day long. True . In fact I think Cooper is a better CB than both Thompson and Beckles . Keep Cooper and look to ship out one of the other CB’s instead.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 12:51 pmThing is Cooper has probably been our best centre back and there is no way we can rely upon Thompson both for fitness and quality at this level. Not necessarily. However I hope the club has already identified who they want in January and go in for them as soon as the transfer window opens. None of this holding back to save on wages nonsense. The point is we don’t want to get relegated.Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 1:47 pmLet’s face it anyone that’s quality will already have been signed or in a contract. Re: Give RW the funds
Personally I think Happe is our best centre back by some distance but that said there does seem to be a persistent rumour that he may be the subject of interest from one or two clubs in January. If that’s the case, then cutting short the loan deals with Cooper and/ or Turns would be a bit daft until that situation is resolved one way or the other.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 12:51 pmThing is Cooper has probably been our best centre back and there is no way we can rely upon Thompson both for fitness and quality at this level. Tbh I don't think much will change. RW has been frustrated by the late transfer activity that left us a month behind the curve fitness wise but the DoF wants to do it that way to save 1 month of wages.Monkey Boy wrote: I know it’s easier said than done but I really think if we stay up(which I’m sure we will) think we must take a look at our long term strategy .
Did we get better deals than "that club beginning with S" by waiting? Questionable.

1/7 Ethan Gailbraith on expiry of his Man U contract a day earlier.
1/7 Dan Agyei on expiry of his Crewe contract a day earlier.
1/7 Max Sanders on expiry of his Lincoln contract a day earlier.
5/7 Idris El Mizouni on loan from Ipswich Town.
6/7 Sam Howes from Wealdstone.
10/7 Sol Brynn from Middlesboro. This was the earliest date M'boro would allow him to join us.
21/7 Joe Pigott from Ipswich on the same day he had his contract at Portman Road ripped up.
1/8 Ed Turns on loan from Brighton 2 days after returning from Brighton's US pre season tournament.
2/8 Jordan Graham who has been talking with other clubs after his release from Birmingham. Wellen's really wanted him.
14/8 Shaq Forde from Watford after they agreed he could join.
1/9 Brandon Cooper on deadline day after injury to Beckles .
First three signed on the first day they became free agents, could not have signed any sooner.
El Miz Signed because of his excellent relationship with ML - no-one thought we could get him back but Ling got him.
Sam Howes was a bit left field as signings go.
Sol Brynn signed for us the deal had been in the making for a couple of weeks but Boro wanted him for pre season training before letting him come to us.
Joe Pigot had another season at Ipswich and had to negotiate his release and joined us the day he left Ipswich Town.
Ed Turns signed at the earliest opportunity after Brighton agreed he could return, He was in America with BHA three days prior to signing.
Jordan Graham was speaking to other clubs before we got him we had been talking to him for some time before he made his mind up to come to us.
Shaq Forde not sure how long he was in the pipeline but brought in to cover Agyei and Drinan getting injured.
Brandon Cooper signed on deadline day to give us a fourth centre back as cover.
So 9 of our 11 signing made before the season started Forde and Cooper signed before deadline day was done. It's not that they were signed late but to get decent players in a club like ours needs to be patient because we haven't got a budget to spend money on players - apart from Howes (nominal fee) all our signings were out of contract or loans. We have had terrible luck with injuries early on and it has forced our hand with the Forde and Cooper signings.
We don't put off signing players to save a months wages here and there I'm afraid there are some proper mugs on here who will believe anything, Ling commented last close season that one of our signings had delayed putting pen to paper and at least it had saved the club a months wages it was tongue in cheek but those of a limited IQ are unable to separate this from fact. it was a one off and down to the player not the club.
It's amazing how as soon as our form dips an assortment of anti Lingers - doom laden know nothings, general idiots and wind up merchants crawl out of the woodwork and jump on the bandwagon. I have every confidence that RW/ML will manage to wheel and deal in January and bring in a couple of new faces. But whatever Ling does it will never be enough.

Maybe he should try doing less then. Like not creating jobs for his mates and upsetting the apple cart in the process.

Re: Give RW the funds
Don’t get drawn into it Hoover a person like him/them or maybe she do it for the wind up. But your point about getting jobs for your mate/mates is absolutely correct. It’s not just at Orient it’s within the football world itself. I’ve witnessed it so many times, and if you haven’t,then take a look at some of the managers that consistently get reemployed (Wilder for example) how many mangers sons get gigs at clubs (Lings son for example)To get your top badge now you have to have links with a club. It’s a boys club all the way down. Fact.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 9:23 amMaybe he should try doing less then. So to put this late transfer bullshit to bed:- We Signed:-
1/7 Ethan Gailbraith on expiry of his Man U contract a day earlier.

I doubt you won't stop trying to be the Dictator &
while you continually accuse people who disagree with
you of being some ex board member.
Just seems very strange that you only want certain views
to be allowed .

Re: Give RW the funds
Look tuffers let’s get one thing straight, I have no problem with you or anyone else disagreeing with me what so ever a s long as they don’t get abusive and personal about it, yes I have my own views like everyone on here, doesn’t mean I’m correct but I have been privy to a lot of things that go on in clubs. Why do I say this. Because most supporters think what goes on at clubs is what they see or read about and I can categorically say that isn’t the case. Now why don’t you just use one name on here and put your point across to all the boarders in a respectful way tuffers. I’m sure people would take your points on board as I would.Joe315 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 10:17 amI'm Joe315 .Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 10:10 amJoe315 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 9:50 am Ahh dear
