Do we Play to win ?

Post by Tuffers#2 »

It seems a daft question I know ,
But really do we ?
I read & I criticise like most of us on this board &
I'm starting to think it's an attitude of Midfield Influence.

RW & PT both midfielders & have certain Ideas.
I have no problem with Tippy Tappy Football
I have no problem with a Plan A but no plan B .

The problem seems to be we have forgotten
that the real plan A is to win games .
Players lacking in shots directness of passing & movement of all the squad & lack of Leadership
Seems to be really lacking . I'm not even going to
blame the quality of players just the WILL to want to win

It's a simple message
Plan A
Find a f#cking way to win . Heart Passion Directness crunching tackles when needed . We've become a bit to nice again.Other than player changes what else
do we need to do?

My take is we give it a bloody good go on Saturday and take it to them. So, we go 4-4-2.

So stick with youngsters ?
Not sure how 442 helps us win though
Don't think it's a formation thing.

I think we need Theo and Agyei free to attack and push on.if we play with a back four with Brown sitting in midfield I think that’s enough defensively. Our issue is we have been toothless. There’s four guys there, plus El Miz with the remit to create and attack. Agyei won’t last the 90 but there’s options on the bench to protect something. But we need to start scoring. I think that line up is the best we have.

We need to play a system that accommodates two up front together, all our forwards are not capable of leading the line on their own. We need to play Theo further forward as he’s the only one with creativity. We need to bring in an attacking midfielder that can link up play between the defence and forwards and be more of a goal threat.we have to many midfielders that play the same way and are not direct enough. Moncur should be the obvious choice but he’s just not fit enough. We need a dominant centre back with experience and the goal keeper needs to be more proactive and communicate with his defence more. Finally Richie has to be more disciplined, you lead by example.

I’m guessing by you post your not to happy with the club at the moment🤔 but hopefully they will sort things out. This reminds me of back in the early 70’s we gained promotion to the old second division and struggled to stay there, think we only scored about 29 goals but still stayed up. We definitely need a couple of signings in January my only fear is that if they do sign anyone they will leave it late as they always do. Personally I think your be lucky to see one maybe two and if there loans they would have to send some back as I think we are only allowed 5 loans per squad. Not wishing to press my point but I really should think how we need to line up with two forwards and get an attacking midfielder in,or stop ponceing about with the ball and move it quicker

2 points a win & 1 a draw way back then
So less chance of draw specialists being relegated.
We Need to Win 3 Points at least another 7 times this season & knick a few draws to be safe.

Living in the 70s is not relevant to today's game

What you talking about living in the 70’s what I’m saying is it takes time to adjust to a higher division. Ok look back a couple of seasons when we got promoted to the league, it took time to adjust to that league and the same will apply to this one. And as for going back to the 70’s and 80’s sure training and approach to games may change but up until this point unless you can tell me otherwise there’s only 11 allowed on the pitch at anyone time. So there can only be a certain amount of formations you can use. We ain’t scoring an abundance of goals and winning games with playing one up front and two wide attackers or playing Theo as a wing back. I know that some bright spark will come along in a few years and say “ I’ve found a new formation” and as Mike Basset said “ I’m playing 44 f—kin2)🤭😂

I love it when a team isn’t playing well and fans demand 442 like its the key to winning football.

I've invented a 2-3-5 line up, which I'm calling the W formation. Boot it long as early as possible and attack, attack, attack!

Seriously ? You're going down that route?
2 seasons of grieving then trying to get the club
right again isn't adjusting. its dealing with a man

Well, hold on a minute I didn’t say 442 I just said we need two up front because one ain’t doing it,and we haven’t got a lead striker also Theo is far better playing in an attacking position. And for those who think that 442 is outdated then 433,5311,3511 ain’t doing it either at the moment. Easy to criticise when you haven’t come up with a credible alternative. And if playing a big man and little man up front mean we win more games then I’m all for it. 235 if you played that formation the opposition wouldn’t know who and how to mark that👍 excellent idea.

When people start going on about passion, it's normally a symptom of other things going wrong, whether it be tactically, a breakdown in relationships, injuries etc. I don't think Wellens or the majority of this squad deserve to have their motivation questioned given what they achieved last season or the fact that we have actually scored quite a lot of last minute equalisers/winners this season.

Yes but confidence is the key, this will test Wellens managerial skills as well as anything and as I’ve said “ you lead by example”.
