I would not be proud if my 16 year old spoke to me like that. I would send him upstairs without any supper as soon as he walked through the door. I certainly would not broadcast such bad behaviour. Did he learn this from you?Wallingford O wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 5:17 pm This is a direct quote from my 16 year old son who got the train up there this morning..and is now sat in pub in Chesterfield as the return isn't until 7pm...

Re: Pathetic
I disagree . We're a good club with good owners but as always it's down to money . The thing that concerns me is the attitude of the players today . I know we're lacking creativity but at least put some effort in . It sounds like we played like we didn't care . There is no excuses for that .

Re: Pathetic
As Joe315 rightly pointed out we have to work within the FFP. This means it won't be easy to bring in the right players we need . However I know what you mean so hopefully something can be done . Only the club knows what's possible .PoundhillO wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 7:01 pm Shower of you know what, proper investment needed to bring in quality league 1 ready players that are not sick notes.

Re: Pathetic
Without doubt RW is a good manager and
he’s done a great job at the Os..
But maybe up to 50% of this squad isn’t
good enough to go to the journey of where
RW wants to take the Os ..
Today was one of the worse performances
I’ve witnessed in recent years, massive
clear out required..
Only the 2 centre halves Cooper and Turns
can come out of todays game with any
credit as they generally put in a decent
shift ..

Re: Pathetic
Our scoring rate so far this season is less than a goal a game and I recall many posters saying that it was our defence last season that got us promoted.
It seems to me to be the style we play that we don’t create loads of chances for whoever our central striker is.
I didn’t see today’s game and so can’t comment but at Bristol Rovers in the week we looked to have little cutting edge and only an OG rescued a point in injury time.
RW must be contemplating starting Agyei soon.

I think Pigott and Ageyi up front as a two has some interesting potential. Whatever happens I think we have to move away from 3 CBs, lopsided formation we move in and out of. On the right Hunt isn’t good enough going forward and Theo is wasted tracking back. It takes away an attacker

Would they have played with more conviction if the winners were due to play at Anfield or Old Trafford?

No Leaders on the pitch & very little passion shown by a Red Shirt today. If the players stop playing for him it’s only downhill. Don’t think we are there yetProposition Joe wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 4:12 pm Not looking to start any rumblings about Wellens but you make it sound like he's a new manager coming in to sort us out (like he did in March 2022) rather than the manager who's been in charge while we end up looking like the toothless underwhelmers we currently are. Has he had nothing to do with any of this?

That’s no excuse for the inept performance today. Watford should have been an incentive to earn the club more money to buy players Is it that several players already know that they will be going in the window and they have down tools already.Something is wrongGive it to Jabo wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 7:54 am Would they have played with more conviction if the winners were due to play at Anfield or Old Trafford?

Richie clearly wants to move away from the 3 CBs with wingbacks. We reverted to a 4-3-3 on Tuesday and yesterday (although changed, I know).Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 10:14 pmI think Pigott and Ageyi up front as a two has some interesting potential. Re: Pathetic
Problem with that is that Hunt has been rubbish this season, we look so much more defensively vulnerable with a 4. Agyei and Theo are also both lefties so we don't have anyone to cut in from the left apart from Ruel, and he works better in a front two.
Not sure I buy the narrative that there's something fundamentally broken in the squad, a month ago things were looking pretty decent. But seemingly quite small things (some players not quite able to make the step up, some recruitment being slightly off, some injuries in key positions, Wellens being a bit inflexible tactically) can combine to make it seem like we're doomed.
The idea this is all down to the admittedly useless appointment if a set piece coach is for the birds though.

Re: Pathetic
We need a left winger, a striker and a right back in January. If we're able to shift 1-2 players out to facilitate that, I think we'll be fine. All this talk of ffp - it's irrelevant if the owners put the money in through equity investment. The cap is wage to turnover ratio, different from the epl. If our form continues like this in December, I really can't imagine they'll let things slide having put the work into getting us here.

There is a limit on how much owners can put in this way for FFP purposesMistadobalina wrote: ↑Mon Dec 04, 2023 10:05 am We need a left winger, a striker and a right back in January. Also, why should owners keep throwing their money away increasing the losses of their club? Clubs should be sustainably run

Re: Pathetic
Do you know what the limit is?
I'm not saying the owners have a moral duty to put more money in. I agree that clubs should be sustainably financed. But I also don't believe they'll simply take a punt on things working out with the current squad, the risk of undoing years of investment and hard work would be too great for them imo..

Everyone wants their club to be sustainably and sensibly run until they need to chase a playoff spot or avoid relegation.

For me, the most depressing thing about yesterday was that we were away to a non-league side (albeit a very decent one) and yet I didn't really expect us to win. But I did expect us to put in a decent performance, which we didn't.'

Worth mentioning that BTC is absolutely flying at present, which should mean our owners can find a few $ for a couple of L1 experienced journeymen to see us through the second half of the season.
