Re: Pathetic
Absolute rubbish .1 shot on target . First half we had 0 shots . Final whistle. 4 shots 1 on target that went straight to the keeper.

Re: Pathetic
Not looking to start any rumblings about Wellens but you make it sound like he's a new manager coming in to sort us out (like he did in March 2022) rather than the manager who's been in charge while we end up looking like the toothless underwhelmers we currently are. Has he had nothing to do with any of this?

He was given a load of players and told ‘these are good enough to finish mid table’ deal with it. There’s no strength in depth.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 4:12 pm Not looking to start any rumblings about Wellens but you make it sound like he's a new manager coming in to sort us out (like he did in March 2022) rather than the manager who's been in charge while we end up looking like the toothless underwhelmers we currently are. Re: Pathetic
He’s very much unproven at league one level and it shows in some regards. But I think he’s earnt enough trust that he can turn it around. I am slightly concerned at the lack of effort and intensity in the last few games. If the players stop playing for him it’s only downhill. Don’t think we are there yetProposition Joe wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 4:12 pm Not looking to start any rumblings about Wellens but you make it sound like he's a new manager coming in to sort us out (like he did in March 2022) rather than the manager who's been in charge while we end up looking like the toothless underwhelmers we currently are. Worrying times. No creativity. Listened to the game . Hardly heard Archibald mentioned. He was played out of the game. Hence no crosses into the box. 4 or 5 players minimum required in January. Moncur , Hunt ! Cooper Prately to be released.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 4:20 pmHe’s very much unproven at league one level and it shows in some regards. Re: Pathetic
I watched the game on Bet365. We started by playing Wellens slow build-up and possession but with little cutting edge. Chesterfield started to press and we conceded an unfortunate goal. Expected us to put them under pressure and attack - but this didn't happen and we just played a long balls through. Overall level of intensity was poor and we showed little L1 guile. Easy win for CFC.
My concern is that Wellens has lost interest / and is hacked off now that we are only in a survival season. He likes it when things go well but doesn't seem to cope well with tough times. Given our cautious style of play and lack of fire power - we will be bottom 6 shortly. The board need to have an objective deep think about where we are - and I wouldn't take any options off the table. As it stands we may well be playing Chesterfield next season...

Ling thought back in 2006 that League 1 was not much different to League 2, maybe he still doesBiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 4:17 pmHe was given a load of players and told ‘these are good enough to finish mid table’ deal with it. This is a direct quote from my 16 year old son who got the train up there this morning..and is now sat in pub in Chesterfield as the return isn't until 7pm...

Re: Pathetic
We were looking reasonably decent up until the Oxford game. Graham's injury seems to have knocked something out of us.
I am starting to get that dread before games that you get when you realise you are going to fully be in a relegation scrap for the season.

Re: Pathetic
Yes, agree with this second paragraph. And this is why we get so many yellow cards. It's a reflection transferred onto the players from the manager because things are not going his way. As we know he's had quite a few himself. Wellens needs to change things from time to time instead of so much concentration on his tippy tappy approach play, especially when we get just outside the box. But I doubt that he will because he very much has a stubborn personality.Reflecto wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 4:50 pm I watched the game on Bet365. Re: Pathetic
We were doing alright until the first Lincoln game and since then, aside from the emotionally charged game against Reading a few days later, we've really fallen away.
Re: Pathetic
I can't see anyone good wanting to come here in January, to a team that will likely be in the bottom half of the table.

If we couldn’t find a goal scoring centre forward when we had all summer and more time than all our rivals, how we going to find someone in January.

Re: Pathetic
I dunno at what point the board will wake up and force the "transfer committee" to change his recruitment tactics of waiting until the end of the window to make signings. To save 1 month of wages we end up behind other clubs in quality and fitness. It's a false economy.
RW has said how we were weeks behind at the start of the season due to late recruitment and made an awful start as a result. It's pretty clear Pigott was a panic signing having waited too long. As above how we're going to fix it in January is concerning.
Just hope there's some journeyman out of favour Championship players who will come to put themselves in the window for a permanent contract.

Re: Pathetic
Difficult time of the season. Bang out of form struggling to find a goal, fixtures are looking tough in the next few weeks and the squad needs a refresh, but we have already been told there is no money available.
So it's a test of RW's mettle now to wheel and deal Two out and Two in would be my guess but goal scorer's cost money so we are going to have to be either lucky or inspired.
