Things I've learnt about non league
It's Fylde not Flyde, and it's right up north not somewhere around Birmingham as I'd previously assumed if I ever gave it any thought.
Just how bad refereeing can get.
The difference between the FA trophy and FA vase
Its Boreham Wood not Borehamwood for some reason, perhaps because Borehamwood is just a bit of Elstree.

I've learnt the the referees at this level are complete and utter crap and that there are some good players down here. I wouldn't mind us raiding a couple of National League teams for their best players.

I've learned I never want the football team I support to spend another season here ever again.

Re: Things I've learnt about non league
I’ve learnt that non-league is an utter shambles and whoever is in charge needs to take a serious look at the appalling standard of officiating and remove the frankly dangerous attitude of “it’s the conference, you should expect players to kick the sh*t out of each other”.

Re: Things I've learnt about non league
I've learnt that I've re-discovered my love for the club like I was a kid again. Yes the standard has been abysmal, but after a long time away without a season ticket or being apathetic for the last 2 seasons under the previous regime - my love for the club has probably never been stronger. I've enjoyed the away days at awful grounds, playing teams I hadn't really heard of (Fylde) or had misheard the names of (Solihull Motors) or having no idea where they are from (Guiseley).

I've learned that a pint of decent ale in Hartlepools is only £1.85 and that the National League isn't really for the likes of us.

£1.85 a pint is probably the best thing about the National League, mind you Hartlepool is a bloody long way to get a bargain like thatMax B Gold wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2019 2:21 pm I've learned that a pint of decent ale in Hartlepools is only £1.85 and that the National League isn't really for the likes of us.

I really hope we never find ourselves in the National League again.

With the 'goal difference' caveat firmly in place, I haven't minded it as a novelty but two seasons is quite enough of a novelty thank you very much.

Re: Things I've learnt about non league
I concur though it's worth pointing out that I've been to Hartlepool as a league and a non league club. As to places I hope I never even think about again - Barrow (the North's answer to AirdrieCheshunto wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2019 2:35 pm£1.85 a pint is probably the best thing about the National League, mind you Hartlepool is a bloody long way to get a bargain like thatMax B Gold wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2019 2:21 pm I've learned that a pint of decent ale in Hartlepools is only £1.85 and that the National League isn't really for the likes of us.![]()

I've learnt that a batch of National League referees will get elevated to the EFL in the summer.
Where else do you think they come from?!

I would need to drink several points before the game and at HT to watch Solihull on a regular basis

Re: Things I've learnt about non league
How many times will Orient have been live on TV in last two seasons? Must be about 10-12.
Can't remember when an Os league game was shown on Sky. I know it did happen once or twice but it was rare.
Re: Things I've learnt about non league
We have never been live on the BBC or ITV, not even for a F.A Cup tie.

Recall that horrible game at Hartlepool in the 2015/16 season was on Sky where Bradley Pritchard put us one up and we lost 3-1 thanks to a Palace loanee.

Re: Things I've learnt about non league
I’ve had far less chance of following us to the odd away fixture in the National League, as most teams are even further from me than those in the lower Football League, and of course ground capacities are also much smaller too.
But it’s confirmed my view that football is very impressively alive and well way below the prima donna league that is called the Premier – and more interesting in my humble opinion - something I was aware of thanks to the occasional trip to see Dereham Town play. I also know a lot more about teams outside the league than I ever did, and see all that as a positive.
