Ah - I've always played that way regardless - never considered putting an correct letter anywhere else.

New method for scores of 3.

For the second guess reduce the allowed list to words that fit with the score of the second guess and do not include letters excluded in the first guess. Then calculate the best word from that list.

For Admin the best second guess he might have used is velds, which would have left 12 words - geese, pesky, resin, reuse, segue, seize, semen, sense, serif, serum,sewer. (I doubt semen is still in the list of possible answers)

I would guess he went with begun, ledge or lemon.

Will only be useful when run on an extensive list of games, but are there any arguments against this being a reliable method for testing how lucky someone is over a period of time? I.e there is no possible way Admin could have got that guess from a less than 1/12 shot (the actual chosen word may have performed better but choosing that word would be a more than 1/12 chance)

For StillSpike his best second guess would have been geits which would have solved it, if he wasn't using hard mode.

Need to add a bit of code for that

Spikes best second word was tronc which would have left 26 possible answers. I'm going to guess he went for wrong, trunk or front.

I got it in 3 too with stale and nidor which had it solved. However the best second word to solve any possible answer from the state of the game after the first guess is incur, which would have given me a 1 in 4 chance.

Feuds was my 2nd guess.

Correct answer with 3rd.

According to the wordle Bot, my 2nd guess left 13 possible answers. Clearly my guess was a lucky one.

Feuds returns 12 from the original answer list, but close enough for my purposes - I would be fairly sure they are returning a number from the pattern of the second guess rather than doing any calculations of possible words.

I went for Minor

5th letter of Brand was a n but it was yellow so I knew it couldn't be 5th in the correct answer - so wrong, trunk and front (or tronc) would all be wrong.
