Sol Brynn
Middlesbrough are considering recalling Sol and Liam Roberts who is at Barnsley, after both of their first choice goalkeepers have been selected for the African Cup.

Re: Sol Brynn
Apart from Seny Dieng, their reserve keepers are an Aussie and Jamie Jones so unless Australia has moved recently or Jones has belatedly discovered Ghanaian roots who's the other one called up for AFCON?

Re: Sol Brynn
Just found an article on Teesside Live.
Dieng is a cert to be called up for AFCON.
Australia are due to take part in the Asian Games but the Boro keeper hasn't been in their recent squads so unclear if he would get called up.
They have 3 keepers out on loan - Brynn, the guy at Barnsley and another another one at St Mirren. The Barnsley keeper is currently out injured so would likely come down to Brynn and Hemmings at St Mirren if they did lose both 1st and 2nd choice to international duty. As long as Australia don't call their guy up, we should be fine.

Re: Sol Brynn
If we're going to lose Sol , when would that be because we would need to bring in a replacement . Obviously we can't do that until the transfer window opens .

Re: Sol Brynn
Correct - into early Feb. Senegal are a decent side, so he could be away for the whole month.timothy wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 12:56 pmThe African Cup is in January I thinkRedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 12:33 pm If we're going to lose Sol , when would that be because we would need to bring in a replacement . Re: Sol Brynn
Well along with a winger and striker in January we could also need another keeper . Vigers ?timothy wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 12:56 pmThe African Cup is in January I thinkRedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 12:33 pm If we're going to lose Sol , when would that be because we would need to bring in a replacement . Re: Sol Brynn
I don’t think Vigs would be happy playing down south. Anyway we could not afford to play his wagesRedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 1:39 pmWell along with a winger and striker in January we could also need another keeper . Re: Sol Brynn
Wouldn't be a disaster, don't think he's been particularly outstanding thus far, a bit more experience might turn out to be a good thing.

Re: Sol Brynn
All goalies are kind of a liability and Brynn is no different. However he can kick, catch and makes more than his proportion of very decent saves. He's good and not easily replaced. I'd far rather he stayed so its one less position to worry about. Plenty of poor ones out there.

Re: Sol Brynn
I’d be very surprised if they loaned him out for a whole season knowing 2 of their keepers might be leaving in January for a month.

Perhaps Os should be on the look out for a permanent keeper signing in January. To me Brynn's performances have been somewhat patchy so far this season.

Re: Sol Brynn
We will need someone permanent going forward so will be interesting what's out there. One thing for sure Howes won't be stepping up as perhaps may have been the plan initially.
Re: Sol Brynn
Couldn't understand why we went for a season loan of a keeper which is not a great idea and one that was below average for Swindon last year. Silly but of management by the Os

Re: Sol Brynn
Below average.... Swindon must have been really dire last season as Brynn was both players and supporters player of the season.

The deal has a mid season break clause, they all do.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Sat Nov 25, 2023 11:00 am I’d be very surprised if they loaned him out for a whole season knowing 2 of their keepers might be leaving in January for a month.

When has he been patchy? I'd describe him as steady.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Sat Nov 25, 2023 11:04 amAgree with @gshaw.LittleMate wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 10:33 pmAll goalies are kind of a liability and Brynn is no different. Re: Sol Brynn
Get rid of him in Jan. his a liability more than most and causes us to conceded and lose general possession. More experienced head needed to get more than we want this season.
