Re: Tory Watch
Not that Cummings is a reliable witness by any stretch, but if even 20% of the things he has said are true, the levels of incompetence and inhumanity are just astonishing.
Re: Tory Watch
As I said on another thread in relation to the Crispin Blunt thing - I reckon the truth of it is that Cummings’ assertions are all factual and accurate, but that the truly sinister thing is that people in positions of power are happily enabling actions and behaviour that are literally evil, and saving them up to be deployed only when exposing somebody suits their own personal petty grievances rather than any true justiceWally Banter wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 2:48 pm Not that Cummings is a reliable witness by any stretch, but if even 20% of the things he has said are true, the levels of incompetence and inhumanity are just astonishing.

You're saying that like it's a bad thing.CEB wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 5:21 pmAs I said on another thread in relation to the Crispin Blunt thing - I reckon the truth of it is that Cummings’ assertions are all factual and accurate, but that the truly sinister thing is that people in positions of power are happily enabling actions and behaviour that are literally evil, and saving them up to be deployed only when exposing somebody suits their own personal petty grievances rather than any true justiceWally Banter wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 2:48 pm Not that Cummings is a reliable witness by any stretch, but if even 20% of the things he has said are true, the levels of incompetence and inhumanity are just astonishing.
I'm storing up my exposé of Admin for the optimum moment for me to seize control of the board.

I can’t never tell if she’s remarkably thick or just desperate to appeal to the right wing knuckle draggers for when Sunak fails. Or both.

Re: Tory Watch
I am not sure if this is about the un-nameable MP from the East of London who has been arrested a long time ago & still under Police investigation, or yet another Tory pervert.

Re: Tory Watch
After the Brexit fiasco, Cameron completely disappeared and has now re-emerged out of nowhere to take up a senior ministerial post. What the fcuk is going on with this circus of a government?

I'm astounded he's got the front to show his face in public.Chicken Dhansak wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 9:48 am After the Brexit fiasco, Cameron completely disappeared and has now re-emerged out of nowhere to take up a senior ministerial post. Re: Tory Watch
For the many failings of the Government, the Tories have highlighted the point that Labour have not promoted ethnic MP’s or Women to higher positions as they have and the pressure will be upon them to do so , especially if elected next time round.

Re: Tory Watch
Don't have to be an MP to be a Minister. Can also be a member of the House of Lords..... so possibility that Cameron may be getting a peerage if speculation is to be believed

Re: Tory Watch
I am surprised O's supporters were unaware that members of the public can be Foreign Secretary. This has a tenuous link to Leyton. In 1964 Election, Harold Wilson wanted Patrick Gordon Walker to be Foreign Secretary. But he lost his seat in the infamous Smethick hustings ( Tory had national Front giving a helping hand, with such slogans as " if you want a N-gger for a neighbour, vote Labour [ not much changes in 60 years does it?] ). Labour had to find Walker a safe Labour seat. There was a by-Election at Leyton, Walker agin failed to win! But he was still Foreign Secretary. Eventually they got him a seat. Also you can be FS as a Lord. y

Jesus Christ. Not for a second trying to do a 'Decent Tory' thing but there really isn't a single one of the current party who isn't either dangerous or comically thick. Madness.

Re: Tory Watch
He had to resign as Foreign Secretary after losing the Leyton By election. He was only Foreign Secretary from 16 October 1964 to 22 January 1965, ie just over 3 months. For those 3 months he was not a member of either house, and so not answerable directly to ParliamentFriend or faux wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 10:12 am I am surprised O's supporters were unaware that members of the public can be Foreign Secretary. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_G ... ote-ODNB-4After the 1964 general election, following a successful career in opposition, Gordon Walker became foreign secretary in the Labour government; he had held the shadow role for the previous year.
Although Labour did win that election to end 13 years of Conservative rule, Gordon Walker was defeated in controversial circumstances by the Conservative candidate, Peter Griffiths. Smethwick had been a focus of immigration from the Commonwealth but the economic and industrial growth of the years following the Second World War were coupled with local factory closures, an ageing population and a lack of modern housing. Griffiths ran a campaign critical of the opposition's, and the government's, policies, including immigration policies. Griffiths was also accused of exploiting the slogan "If you want a nigger neighbour, vote Labour".[4]
Despite, therefore, not being an MP or peer able to answer to parliament, Gordon Walker was appointed to the Foreign Office by Harold Wilson. To resolve this unusual situation, he stood for the normally "safe" Labour constituency of Leyton in the Leyton by-election in January 1965; however, he lost, and was finally forced to resign as foreign secretary.[4]
