Stevenage Home Game
This is now a MUST Win game
Saturday's wake up call (0-3 versus Macclesfield Town reserves) has left us teetering on the edge of an abyss that not even Dean Brill's considerable bulk can save us.
Maybe we need to get rid of what's left of our midfield entirely so we can play a few more centre-halfs in the starting 11
Perhaps we will recall Harrold and Alibi to the team in order to give this our very best shot

Surprised you didn’t call for Janata to clear up the mess!ContrifibulatoryFred wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2019 11:20 am This is now a MUST Win game

Re: Stevenage Home Game
MUST win?
Why?
It will certainly be good to win. However a defeat or draw in this game is neither you gvto relegate or promote Orient.
It's one of 44 remaining games and only accounts for a maximum of 3 points.
It's not a MUST win game at all

I've blocked Spen666 but I expect he is in the process of reporting me to the CPS for the crime of stating an opinion about the gravity of our situation and the probability that we could soon be cast adrift of the peloton in League Two

Re: Stevenage Home Game
So cast adrift that Orient are currently 13th in the table. Even if they list and the best possible results for the other sides, Orient would not be bottom of the table and at least 8 teams (if not more) would not have more points than OrientContrifibulatoryFred wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2019 12:34 pm I've blocked Spen666 but I expect he is in the process of reporting me to the CPS for the crime of stating an opinion about the gravity of our situation and the probability that we could soon be cast adrift of the peloton in League Two

We're mid table at the moment. Bang on target for the aspirations of many pre-season.

Re: Stevenage Home Game
I'm afraid life's too short for engaging with festering protagonists like Spen666
I was not a party to his banning, and have not complained about his unwelcome return
You go right on ahead and enjoy his input, but I'd rather retain him as the only person I have ever foe'd on any MB

Re: Stevenage Home Game
My OP was entirely ironic anyway, intended to satirise some of the more doom-laden factions on this MB - hence any 'advice' Spen666 might have felt his duty to impart would have been entirely WASTED
i will, however, admit that losing at home to Stevenage could be a cause for concern

Re: Stevenage Home Game
For team and fan morale it'd be nice to win. But its still early days. 44 games to go, its a marathon not a sprint.
Last season in the Championship Norwich were 5th from bottom after 6 games and got promoted as Champions and I'm sure there are other similar examples.

After two defeats in a row , conceding five and scoring none , I think we might have to .

That’s all well and good but he’s got loads of other antagonistic accounts on here. You can’t avoid him.ContrifibulatoryFred wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2019 1:18 pm My OP was entirely ironic anyway, intended to satirise some of the more doom-laden factions on this MB - hence any 'advice' Spen666 might have felt his duty to impart would have been entirely WASTED

Re: Stevenage Home Game
Sadly, the pressure is starting to crank up for RE and the team already. Could be a difficult 90 minutes ahead on Saturday!

Re: Stevenage Home Game
Given Stevenage have problems of their own I would hope for us to scrape a win.

Re: Stevenage Home Game
I was thinking along similar lines vs Macclesfield last Saturday!

Re: Stevenage Home Game
Stevenage have no points and no goals this season, don't think I'd accept a draw before the match.
If we don't at least put in a strong performance that will be quite concerning.

Re: Stevenage Home Game
Yeh everyone is saying a must win but we are only 2 league games in 3 points from 2 games and also our first year back in the football league so its going to take time

Re: Stevenage Home Game
Of course it will take time and maybe too early to panic. But like I’ve said already, I’m getting jittery about our lack of ability to create opportunities. Even against Cheltenham and with the lions share of possession apart from the first 25 I never really saw any cutting edge to our play. Seems to have been replicated in our last two games also.
That worries me. Creating but not taking chances is one thing. Not creating much is far more serious.
Stevenage will be a good indicator. If we don’t create much against them it’s time to worry as there are much stiffer tests to come.
