Do you like the ‘New, last Beatle’s Song?’
I heard all the hype about this and finally listened to it and personally found it unremarkable . What do others think?

The hype unbelievable. I think Noel Gallagher reportedly ecstatic people
crying . I was more emotional about Bright Eyes, although that was just Paul and Linda.
Re: Do you like the ‘New, last Beatle’s Song?’
It’s alright, it’s pretty much what I expected, which is itself against the spirit of the Beatles, I guess. But it’s for those who love the Beatles, and as a last little treat it’s fair enough

It was nice to hear them all together and there’s something about their sound that is magical.
But this song wouldn’t have got on any of their albums in the form it’s been released. Not a big fan

I found the official video quite cringeworthy to be perfectly honest.

The video has a vibe about it as if James Corden is about to turn up and do that laugh

Fully agree, a bland cobbled up song that as you say .....Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2023 7:57 pm It was nice to hear them all together and there’s something about their sound that is magical.

It properly looks like two dads have dressed up as Harrison and Lennon and got up on stage whilst a tribute band play at a local pub.
I know AI is supposed to be the greatest thing since oxygen but in this case it just looks completely naff

I mean, my previous post was sort of nonsensical. I don’t actually think it makes sense to talk about any band being ‘the best’ — music isn’t a sport. That said, I’m curious as to whether there’s a British band you consider ‘better’ than the Beatles?
Can’t think of one I enjoy more.

The Smiths. Better songs overall. Better lyricist. Better instrumentalists. Rated probably the correct amount.oxo wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2023 1:04 pmI mean, my previous post was sort of nonsensical. I’m not saying the Beatles are sh*t. Just that they aren’t the perfect great band most people claim. Their best albums have dud songs on them. A handful of great and iconic songs, nothing more.
Re: Do you like the ‘New, last Beatle’s Song?’
It’s not measurable. The contrast between the Smiths and the Beatles is a great one, as The Smiths music absolutely takes what is out there already and develops it, pushes it somewhere different.
What The Beatles did was realise the potential of the art form, growing from a very basic band into one that was doing relatively mad stuff. Other bands did mad stuff too, but The Beatles carved out the path

Re: Do you like the ‘New, last Beatle’s Song?’
Very good post. It’s hard to understand them with the context of the time and not living through that I can’t even comprehend. They were doing things that broke ground with every album; from songs to lyrics to studio techniques. And for the amount of songs they wrote the quality is astounding m. Like 95% success rate imoCEB wrote: ↑Sun Nov 05, 2023 4:34 pm It’s not measurable. Re: Do you like the ‘New, last Beatle’s Song?’
I think it’s maybe reasonable to say they’re the definitive British band, or even the definitive rock n roll band, but best is objective. Especially because when they were bad, they were very bad. There are plenty of bands with better quality control
