I’m not a political person but anyone with the name of Crispin should never be let in Brisbane road let alone the Houses of Parliament

Re: Another Tory Wrong'un
If he's guilty I hope he gets nailed but is it *slightly* coincidental that this comes out after he was so vocal about accusing the Govt and opposition of being complicit in supporting alleged Israeli war crimes?
If this is tin foil hat stuff give me a slap and will shut up.

It seems highly unlikely that this government would prioritise a pro-Israel conspiracy (or indeed anything) above and beyond their own survival.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 6:37 pm If he's guilty I hope he gets nailed but is it *slightly* coincidental that this comes out after he was so vocal about accusing the Govt and opposition of being complicit in supporting alleged Israeli war crimes?

More likely that causation runs in a different direction - knowing that the net was closing in on him, Blunt decided to start throwing some wild punches a la Trump, Brand, Brigden etc...

A MP in East London in his 50s is currently on bail until mid-February 2024 on allegations of sexual assault, abuse of position of trust and misconduct in a public office.
He was arrested on suspicion of rape in May 2022.

If it's any more than a coincidence, that would make a bit more sense. Did think I was starting to go a bit bonkers.OyinbO wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 6:53 pmIt seems highly unlikely that this government would prioritise a pro-Israel conspiracy (or indeed anything) above and beyond their own survival.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 6:37 pm If he's guilty I hope he gets nailed but is it *slightly* coincidental that this comes out after he was so vocal about accusing the Govt and opposition of being complicit in supporting alleged Israeli war crimes?

If you read the words of Blunt himself this investigation pre-dates October 7th.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 6:37 pm If he's guilty I hope he gets nailed but is it *slightly* coincidental that this comes out after he was so vocal about accusing the Govt and opposition of being complicit in supporting alleged Israeli war crimes?

TBF Blunt has got form for this kind of thing: https://www.thejc.com/news/uk/tory-mp-s ... s-1.523277Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 7:11 pmIf it's any more than a coincidence, that would make a bit more sense. although I see his statement acknowledges that he was spoken to by the police about this allegation before his latest set of remarks on the Middle East.

Yeah, that's what I meant though. The investigation started ages ago so it coming out right now could have potentially been a bit off, if you were inclined to go looking for stuff like that.

Heh. Looks like Owen got suckered in by Blunt's attempt to shore up some political/social capital in advance of things going public.

Re: Another Tory Wrong'un
What would the conspiracy be? He's a political nobody who's retiring from parliament next year. He has zero influence on policy or public debate. And he's just the latest in a long list of Tory mps being accused of being a complete wrongun.
So either the Israeli state is pulling some high level risky conspiracy for minimal gain or it's just another Tory mp being accused of sexual assault and drug possession. Occam' razor and all that...

Re: Another Tory Wrong'un
I think the truth is likely to be more petty - while still sinister - than anything else.
Basically politicians have lots of sh*t on each other and a fair bit of influence and ability to pull strings.
The scandal isn’t so much in when revelations are leaked in order to suit some people’s interests or to punish those who step out of line, but is more in how behaviour ranging from sh*tty to criminal is actually tolerated a lot of the time as a means of keeping people toeing the line. See also how Dominic Cummings had an attack of conscience once it didn’t suit him to cover Boris Johnson’s arse

Re: Another Tory Wrong'un
Is he , as an unconvicted suspect , worse than a Female Labour MP , now sitting as an independent , who has been convicted of threatening to throw acid in the face of a love rival?Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Fri Oct 27, 2023 11:21 am What would the conspiracy be? If she's sitting as an independent she's not a Labour MP
Not that she's in any way relevant to this story.

Re: Another Tory Wrong'un
Also, yes, actually raping someone is worse than threatening to do something to someone.
There isn’t actually a Schrödinger’s box where he currently both has and hasn’t committed rape, meaning that currently he can be judged as if he half did it. If he did what he is alleged to have done, then he’s a rapist.
Why are you comparing someone accused of something to someone convicted of something else?
