It seems highly unlikely that this government would prioritise a pro-Israel conspiracy (or indeed anything) above and beyond their own survival.

More likely that causation runs in a different direction - knowing that the net was closing in on him, Blunt decided to start throwing some wild punches a la Trump, Brand, Brigden etc...

A MP in East London in his 50s is currently on bail until mid-February 2024 on allegations of sexual assault, abuse of position of trust and misconduct in a public office.

He was arrested on suspicion of rape in May 2022.

I think the truth is likely to be more petty - while still sinister - than anything else.
Basically politicians have lots of sh*t on each other and a fair bit of influence and ability to pull strings.
The scandal isn’t so much in when revelations are leaked in order to suit some people’s interests or to punish those who step out of line, but is more in how behaviour ranging from sh*tty to criminal is actually tolerated a lot of the time as a means of keeping people toeing the line.
