Madras. I don't appreciate mild and subtle flavours. I've had Phall half a dozen times and a couple of them have been ridiculous.

Heat varies so much from one restaurant to another and even more so between North and South. Failed to get a “hot” curry when I lived in Yorkshire. In general, between 10 and 12 on the chart for me. Phall only ever for a bet when completely abbo’ed.

Korma for me. I like the spicy ones going in but the pain they cause coming out makes it not worth it.

I used to like it quite hot but I’m a 1 chilli out of 3 on those packets in M&S.
My Indian friends tell me that most Asians don’t do Vindaloo or Phall type strength and it has all been adapted for British tastes over the years . They tell me they nibble on a chilli ti taste. If it is too hot for me, on advice from them , I have some plain Greek yoghurt to hand to cool things down . My fav is plain dhal with any bread.

Waitrose and Tesco microwave Jalfrezis are delicious (probably made at the same factory) and although they have a 2 chili rating they're not that hot. Restaurant versions of the same are usually hotter.

Never understood the point of eating something that's uncomfortably hot.
Takes me back to the early 90's in various Woodford / South Woodford curry houses watching big fat bald headed bastards munching their sweaty way through plates of vindaloo in order to impress others with their ability to eat ring stingingly hot food whilst consuming endless pints of Cobra.
Wankers.

The last part sounds impressive. Is there a chart of what's acceptable to the Dunners palate dependent upon "environmental conditions".

Smog requires avoidance of anything likely to exasperate breathing difficulties. So you're looking at any of the dishes from point 10 and below.
Look, it's a complex matrix which I just don't have time to go into right now. But suffice to say there is a curry for all conditions. And yes, that includes Korma.

If I fancy something sweeter I’ll go for a pasanda. Generally go for a dopiaza or a bhuna.

I'm happy with a Jalfrezi. There was an Indian restaurant in Stratford at the bottom of Romford Road called Spice inn that used to do a dish called Lamb Badshahi. I was one of the nicest things I've ever eaten. The restaurant is gone unfortunately.

Dansak/Patia are the regulars for me, but if a restaurant offers either an Achari or a Xacuti then I pick those because of their rarity. My local does a Dansak just right for me, a nice sweat without having to fight it.
PS. I don't know who created the order but most Rogan Josh's tend to be far milder than a Dansak.
