Re: OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed
If you don't know, then you have some serious mental issues or are you just up late on a school night?
Re: OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed
I think Lincoln should have conceded the game, as a matter of good taste.
I'm very disappointed we have to replay this game

Re: OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed
To be fair to Lincoln I don't think it was their decision to make . It was squarely up to the EFL .

Re: OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed
You are exhibiting utter disregard and respect for Mr Reynolds grieving family by your inconsiderate suggestion that ‘they should pay’. He did not choose to fall Ill that evening. Why on Earth would you make such a cruel suggestion and now ridiculously claim you see nothing wrong in being so thoughtless?

Ah, good point. I retract my totally serious suggestion that the family should pay. ThanksLoin Cloth Lenny wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2023 11:13 pmYou are exhibiting utter disregard and respect for Mr Reynolds grieving family by your inconsiderate suggestion that ‘they should pay’. Re: OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed
This is a must win match of course if only to honour the memory of Mr Reynolds and bring peace and closure to his family who I believe from another post are voicing displeasure over the decision.
Hopefully the club will invite them to attend once again and repeat the Reading game tributes once more , possibly book them into corporate for a meal etc to make a day of it. The 3 points are vital as could matter so much depending where we finish which in recent games could be play offs.
I think it was the only correct decision to replay it ultimately. The EFL should explain why it took so long to reach this outcome.

Re: OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed
It's annoying but it was always going to happen given the EFL rules. Hopefully this plus that ridiculous Scunthorpe game decision will prompt a rethink about how abandonment rules work, because other countries seem to be able to get the remainder of games completed if exceptional circumstances dictate.
People getting het up by the amount of time it took to make the decision need to calm down. It really doesn't matter whether it took a few days or a couple of weeks.

Re: OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed
I don't think winning a game of football will bring peace or closure to a grieving family and being this massively over the top feels a little distasteful. Lincoln City FC aren't a murder suspect in an unresolved investigation ffs.Loin Cloth Lenny wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 9:07 am This is a must win match of course if only to honour the memory of Mr Reynolds and bring peace and closure to his family.

It was less than 9 working days. Stop being so utterly ridiculous.Loin Cloth Lenny wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 9:07 am The EFL should explain why it took so long to reach this outcome.

I think they could have decided quicker. The family seem disgruntled.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 9:26 amIt was less than 9 working days. Stop being so utterly ridiculous.Loin Cloth Lenny wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 9:07 am The EFL should explain why it took so long to reach this outcome.

Re: OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed
We will see how they are as they seemed unhappy according to another post. I am not on twitters so I’ll not know unless someone who is posts again.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 9:19 amI don't think winning a game of football will bring peace or closure to a grieving family and being this massively over the top feels a little distasteful. Some people lead busy lives and need to plan things . They have work commitments and events like weddings etc to go to and deadlines to meet.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 9:18 am It's annoying but it was always going to happen given the EFL rules. Not unreasonable to try and sort one’s diary?

Re: OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed
Losing a loved one is devastating and makes you see everything through the lens of that pain, I don't think their hurt is grounds to undermine the set rules of a sporting competition.
Re: OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed
This is exactly what I meant by why it made sense to delay the decision a short while. The family’s (understandable) wish for the game to have meaning can’t realistically be a consideration, and while of course they want the result to stand, the right decision has been made.
It’s fine for the family to be pissed off, but when people who aren’t the family adopt it as little bit of a cause, it’s very silly

Re: OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed
The family would probably be more disgruntled if the decision had been made quicker, not less.Loin Cloth Lenny wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 9:28 amI think they could have decided quicker. Re: OFFICIAL: Lincoln game to be replayed
Even by usual standards of silliness, this incredibly sad and unfortunate event has caused some of our fans to lose what was left of their minds.

Imagine what will happen when it’s a super fan rather than just a fan
