As an aside, there's a minutes applause in the 84th min, at Saturday's home game, to remember Derek

This will be a fitting way to remember the man.

Hopefully there will also be a minutes silence before the game to remember poor Derek.
The club have already announced that there will be a book of condolence available.

Very very sad for this guy, Derek to have died. He was the same age as me ( I survived a heart attack 9 years ago). It happened just 5 rows in front of me.

The "incident" exposed quite serious short comings in my view.

1. Why were the stewards so slow in responding to the aggravation in the crowd. Surely these people are supposed to be watching the crowd. One guy did come over and then went away, presumably to tell someone. Did he not have a radio?

2. Where were the clubs medical staff. They even had to walk around the pitch as I could see. Despite Justin's death where were the defibrillator's.

3. Why the
f*** did the guys running on the pitch not get listened to.

4. Why was Theo not listened to by the linesman. He seemed more intent on pushing Theo away. Derek was literally yards away from the linesman.

The crowd were brilliant in trying to help but sadly to no avail.

I suppose the only consolation to Derek, and hopefully to his family and friends, is that at his death, he was watching his team winning a game. He wasn't alone!!

It is darkly funny that some people really do seem to struggle to see incidents at football matches through a lens other than one focused on football. There’s an undercurrent of it throughout, as if the laws of the game are somehow more pertinent than the specifics of what was going on

Yes was sitting in the west stand and people were urging them to cut across the pitch but they were reluctant to do so, weather that would have made a difference we will never know?
