You are right and aren’t they full of posh nonces too?Max B Gold wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2023 1:37 pm Private schools shouldn’t just lose their charitable status. They should be banned entirely.
They are the central institution that enshrines and enforces Britain’s unofficial caste system.
Getting rid of them would advance the country 100 years with immediate effect. Said a guy on X. I can't see any issues with it.

Re: Private Schools
If private schools were abolished there would be nothing for the parents to consider and if state schools were the only option it wouldn't be long before they secured the resources they required as the upper and middle classes flexed their muscles.

I disagree, I think parents would home school with private tutors or move abroad. Would be difficult to ban private schools. Easy to withdraw their charitable status. Thing is , many faith schools will protest against such measures. There are numerous , Jewish, Muslim , Christian and other faiths that would not accept this. Some are fee paying , receiving grants.

Move abroad - yes that's a really strong argument for not doing it.Loin Cloth Lenny wrote: ↑Sat Sep 30, 2023 1:28 pmMax B Gold wrote: ↑Sat Sep 30, 2023 1:21 pmIf private schools were abolished there would be nothing for the parents to consider and if state schools were the only option it wouldn't be long before they secured the resources they required as the upper and middle classes flexed their muscles.

Faith based schools should be abolished and replaced with non denominational learning environments. Religion is for the home and holy days if that's what people want.

Agree with all of what you say. I would not move abroad but this many would.
Spot on with faith schools. I think it would be a massive uphill task to do it though. Would be enormous opposition.

Re: Private Schools
Many wouldn't move abroad that's silly talk. If they did they would defeat the primary purpose of private education which is to replicate the ruling class and benefit from the old boys network.Loin Cloth Lenny wrote: ↑Sat Sep 30, 2023 1:42 pm Agree with all of what you say. My kids were privately educated are not the ruling class , possibly benefit from the old boys network as they made some influential friends at school. No more old boys network than Freemasonry, Catholic Guild, Golf Clubs, nudge nudge wink wink say no more say no more.
So Diane Abbott is perpetuating the old boys network send her son to a series of private schools then like herself Cambridge. Ultimately to the Department of Nepotism in the Foreign Office as well? Such privilege. You criticise me a poor Leytonstone lad trying to better my kids lives?
