Ratings v Macclesfield
Based on the livestream only so accept those there may have a different view.
Brill - 5. A L2 keeper shouldn’t be beaten by the shot for the first goal. Flapped at a cross just after that too. We need better.
Ling - 3. Just don’t get why he’s our first choice right back. Failed to stop a single cross coming in, failed to put in a decent delivery at the other end. Their full back had him in his pocket.
Marvin - 5. Started badly against their big lump up top but got into the game. All over the place at the end when just him and Happe.
Coulson - 6. Usual. No idea why he was subbed, hope not due to injury.
Happe - 5. Half a second too slow on the ball.
Brophy - 5. Tried but not enough quality with his end product. Used his pace well defensively.
Wright - 6. Ok.
Clay - 5. Plenty of runnng as ever, just not enough quality.
JMD - 3. Had lots of the ball early on but done sod all with it.
Angol - 6. Could be ok if he had some service.
Wilkinson - 5. Tried.
Subs
Dennis - 4. No impact. Nowhere near the pace of the game.
Alabi/Harold - whatever.
Really disappointing performance and even more disappointing result. Man for man that starting 11 should walk all over their opponents. This Macclesfield side apparently had 12 players yesterday, signed 4 on line yesterday and couldn’t fill their bench. But other than the first 30 minutes when we were the better side without creating anything of note, they ran out easy winners.

Also, whoever it was that tried to play offside for their second goal gets an automatic 5 point deduction.

We were better in the first 30? Don't think so....from start of second half until their second, certainly. That's as good as it got. One way or another: CRAP!CreamofSumYungGai wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2019 5:28 pm Based on the livestream only so accept those there may have a different view.

Re: Ratings v Macclesfield
Really disappointing, especially after getting pelted by wind and rain all game and 4.5 hour journey home but I guess you take your chances with Orient!
First half was about even but absolutely no idea why we insisted on playing it long over and over, instead of out from the back. The wind was against us and holding the ball up and it kept coming back at us.
Not sure 5-3-2 is going to work away from home in this league. We were often caught at the back and imo if you’re playing that away, you sacrifice a forward or the third midfielder has to be deeper. JMD was a luxury that did nothing today.
It’s only game two so not panicking but the one thing that was worrying was that we looked really really niave. He first two goals came after we were on the attack or had a set piece. We had no aggression today (aside from starting fights) with or without the ball and it looked like a very different side to last season.
Brill - 5 - didn’t really have a chance with the last two. The first one was a great shot but he was nowhere near it. Loses a mark for aimless kicking first half.
Ling - 4 - actually got into some very good positions and I remember one acceptable cross. The only wing back in the country who can’t beat a man (aside from Widdowson).
Ekpiteta - 5 - let the cross for the first in far too easily. Doesn’t look like marv from last year so far.
Coulson - 6 - was ok but got done for the second and couldn’t catch the bloke.
Happe - 3 - thought he was poor today. No idea where he was for their first as it seemed like it was just Brophy and Coulson in the middle. Awful for the third.
Brophy - 4 - he got found out so many times today defensively. Looked bright going forward first half but his half arsed clearance lead to the first and he lost the ball numerous times second.
Clay - 5 - he tried but no real creatively and lost the ball over and over.
Wright - 6 - a few neat passes but gave nothing to the forwards.
Wilkinson- 4 - did absolutely nothing apart from fluffing a half chance.
Angol - 6 - held the ball relatively well but we didn’t get the ball to his feet enough. Got involved in about 4 separate scuffles.
Subs:
Dennis - 4 - thought he should have come on ten mins earlier but when he did get on it was clear he is nowhere near match sharp.
Harrold - 1 - don’t think he touched it, no impact.
Alabi - 2 - shouldn’t be near our squad.
Ross - 4 - sharp learning curve and I hope he does learn. Attitude of the team seemed off today, formation was wrong and subs left too late. Although tbf we could have done with a good
Midfielder on the bench but we had Gorman so his options were limited.

Coulson no way to blame for the second. He was coming back from a set piece and the only one arsed enough to chase back.

Re: Ratings v Macclesfield
Very disappointing result, especially against a team backed for relegation. Thought we started well and looked promising for about 20 minutes. Once they got the goal, however, they looked the better side, and we capitulated in the final 15 minutes (it could have been 4 or 5), and we looked pretty spineless.
Brill 5 - Flapped at a couple crosses and maybe should’ve done better for the first goal.
Ling 3 - poo poo. Failed to put in a single decent cross despite having countless opportunities. Constantly playing backwards passes from forward positions, and even his long throws were poor.
Coulson 6 - Looked decent until taken off - presumably injured.
Ekpiteta 6 - Looked decent on the ball - nothing he could’ve done about the goals.
Happe 5 - Wasn’t really involved.
Brophy 5 - Think I’m right in saying his error lead to one of the goals. Looked alright coming forward but failed to create anything.
Clay 6 - Looked lively. A few poorly placed passes, but also some good challenges and forward balls.
Wright 4 - Looked disinterested in the second half.
JMD 3 - Poor for a second week in a row. Bottled challenges, poor decision making and failed to create anything.
Angol 5 - Looked lively, but no chances of note and tried his best to get himself sent off.
Wilkinson 6 - Won a lot of headed ball, looked our most likely to score.
Subs:
Dennis 5 - On for 30 minutes but can’t remember him doing anything.
Harrold 5 - Didn’t do anything of note.
Alabi N.A

Re: Ratings v Macclesfield
We were poor but ridiculously this is a game we could have and should have won. Wwe bossed them in the first half (despite the wind being against us) and also in the second half until their goal. Their first goal included the cross taking a wicked deflection off Ekpiteta which found Coulson out. It was a brilliant finish from Archibald (currently on Sky as a goal of the day contender). Some observations:
Ling - I've never been a fan but he was bloody awful today. Plenty of crossing opportunities that either didn't get put in or didn't beat the first man. Never saw him take on a player once. Judd is head and shoulders better.
Brophy - was more back than wing today which surprised me. Combine that with Ling's ineptitude and we had no width, ridiculous given how tall our forwards are
Maguire-Drew - His set pieces are pure class unfortunately he blows hot and cold and there were occasions today when he was deeper than Clay/Wright - what was that about
Wilkinson/Angel - we had two forwards who spent most of the game with their back to the opposing goal. Angel is very promising and wins a lot in the air. Wilkinson contributed nothing today. From what I've seen of him he is much better coming from deep but that doesn't work in our current formation. They will both score goals but need time to work out how to play together
Dennis - came on, did nothing, obviously needs time.
We have a solid defence and Clay/Wright have it in them to boss midfields. However we don't currently have any width and the link up play between the midfield and front two hasn't kicked in yet. Despite todays outcome I can still see us achieving a top half finish.

Pretty gutted but definitely some overreactions/knee jerk comments on here.
3-0 massively flattered them. We were poor but nowhere near as bad as 3-0 suggests.
Squad needs improvement and I hope the management see that now but in all honesty we had a lot of that game and just kept getting done on the break

I think it flattered us. We had two shots on goal all game. They scored 3, missed two other one on ones and brill made a couple of good saves.Jman wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2019 9:39 pm Pretty gutted but definitely some overreactions/knee jerk comments on here.

I thought the first goal that was deflected by Marvin found Brophy out not Coulson , also the swirling wind helped to decieve Brill .........then again mybe i'm plssed off with the tame showing by our lot ☹.jamespevans wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2019 8:26 pm We were poor but ridiculously this is a game we could have and should have won. Did I dream it or did Ross say Coulson was suffering with chest pain and shortness of breath? Doesn't sound good.
