Hope it's just a blip today but not confident in that. Next home game will be a marker of how things might go I reckon. Seems Sol Campbell sussed out us completely today, hope we have a plan B.

4 players have been signed. Last season just 2 were signed & the league was won.
The window is still open, so I trust that 1 or 2 more will come in, in the required positions.
One terrible result isn't the end of the world. Like last season a big factor in the success under JE was how the team reacted from poor performances.
Was a Realist ffs?
One game is "proof" of something?gshaw wrote: βSat Aug 10, 2019 5:17 pm Not loving my side losing but does prove a few of the realistic concerns some of us had with the (lack of) recruitment over summer, along with the naive view that NL = L2 in terms of quality of opposition.

Out: Koroma, Bonne, Simpson, Lawless, Lee, Grainger
In: Wilkinson, Angol, Wright, Dennis
That's not creating a stronger, deeper squad than last season. It's barely replacing those we've sold off. CM was a problem last season and that's why we had to sacrifice attacking threat for an extra defender just to get over the line.
Still haven't addressed it and trying to play the same negative formation from the start of the season. As soon as a goal goes in against us we're in trouble as the attacking threat isn't there as per today.
Bare minimum one quality, battling CM needs to come in before the window shuts (ideally two as Jobi won't be recovered and fully fit for months yet) and preferably another striker with Alabi heading out on loan somewhere as he looks as ineffective as ever.
That assumes no player sales as well, far from a given so just have to keep fingers crossed there.
Not really. I don't think anyone has said that the squad is set in stone and that's what we have for the remainder of the season. From listening to Gsahw you'd think that was the case. And the usual dig about player sales. What's that about?RedDwarf 1881 wrote: βSat Aug 10, 2019 6:03 pmA good reply and bang on the nail.gshaw wrote: βSat Aug 10, 2019 5:50 pmYes, lack of recruitment.O my gawd wrote: βSat Aug 10, 2019 5:38 pm

Walking back to the station, a bloke behind me went...βdid we win 3-0 or 4-0? 3-0? f*cking hell, we won a game 3-0, itβs a miracle!β
The dig is we're happy to sell but not at bringing in the numbers or quality to compete at a higher level than last season. That's not a dig at the new signings but rather the Alabi situation, lack of CM reinforcements and so on.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: βSat Aug 10, 2019 6:09 pmNot really. There is no harm in seeing what the current squad could achieve as long as recruitment or and tactical decisions are made at the appropriate times. So for me the issue is less that the squad is not as deep as last season and more about what decisions we will make before the transfer window closes.
On their forum someone was trying to remember when they last won 3-0 at home. Embarrassing or what.Apple Wumble wrote: βSat Aug 10, 2019 6:54 pmWalking back to the station, a bloke behind me went...βdid we win 3-0 or 4-0? 3-0? f*cking hell, we won a game 3-0, itβs a miracle!β
One goal scored in the last 5 competitive matches ( e.g, one cup final and 4 league games ) using the present formation.gshaw wrote: βSat Aug 10, 2019 6:55 pmThe dig is we're happy to sell but not at bringing in the numbers or quality to compete at a higher level than last season.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: βSat Aug 10, 2019 6:09 pmNot really. 3 weeks until the window closes then the squad is set until January. Tick tock Mr Ling, don't screw up the CM signing like you did last summer...
Iβm willing to bet we field the same formation next league game too.Sid Bishop wrote: βSat Aug 10, 2019 6:58 pmOne goal scored in the last 5 competitive matches ( e.g, one cup final and 4 league games ) using the present formation.gshaw wrote: βSat Aug 10, 2019 6:55 pmThe dig is we're happy to sell but not at bringing in the numbers or quality to compete at a higher level than last season.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: βSat Aug 10, 2019 6:09 pm

Gorman doesn't address a need in the team though, i.e. he isn't a quality mobile defensive midfielder. He is more of a complementary player.RoryRocks wrote: βSat Aug 10, 2019 6:02 pm Gorman had a decent pre season. He needs game time. Judd should start ahead of Ling. I think Widdowson will come back into this team. JMD is not as good as some people were thinking. Marvin and Happe are not the finished articles. Ross needs a few months to sort things out. Remember, We played hoof ball football for the last few months of last season and we need to have a plan B.
